Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 22Apr 15, 2017 8:10 am 13 April 2017: When you are on school holidays, you can't help but see what's happening every day that you can! Today the beams were fully installed and the floorboards were put up for the second floor. As an added bonus the windows and sliding doors arrived which was pretty exciting! Till next time everyone, Happy Building! Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 23Apr 20, 2017 6:48 pm 20 April 2017: We just had a big easter long weekend and despite this a week later, what a difference! We now have first floor frames and for the first time we see the shape of our whole house! In addition to this they have installed the windows for the ground floor. What was just a drawing is now a reality and it is just so exciting! We also met Brayden today who is the main carpenter on the job and he was extremely nice and accomodating. You could tell he had concern for our build and really tried to make sure that what he was producing was excellent quality. Very easy to talk to and was happy to answer any questions that I had. It all contributes to the positive experience we are having with Better Built Homes. In usual fashion I took a few photos: . First few photos show what was happening yesterday morning and what they were able to achieve in a bit over 24 hours. I stood gobsmacked to be honest! We can't express how much of a thrill it is to see this "baby" develop and form! Till next time everyone, happy building! I hope you get your letter of commencement soon. Great to hear from you. Looking forward to seeing your project take shape in the near future. Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 27Apr 21, 2017 7:27 pm JustinCHL Hi krusade25, Congratulation! May I know the final built cost (including site cost, H1 slab) for your beautiful Kruse 35? Hi Justin. I have sent you a pm to answer your question. Thanks for dropping by. Feel free to ask any other questions you may have. Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 28Apr 21, 2017 7:55 pm 21 April 2017: Got a friendly email today from Better Built Homes to tell me that my frames are now complete! YAY! So of course I had to go down again and see what finished frames look like! Of course I wasn't disappointed. Windows are all in now for the top and bottom levels. All looks good and the excitement continues to build. Texted my site supervisor Aaron about it this morning. I got a text this afternoon saying that it had all been addressed and fixed this afternoon! You can't ask for better service. Very impressed. Brickies have been tentatively booked in for the 3rd May but could be the 10th May depending on a number of factors. Either way I have an estimated timeline as to when I can expect to see another change which means it might be a couple of weeks until I update again. Until next time everyone, Happy Building! Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 29Apr 24, 2017 9:17 am Your build has been so quick so far despite the rain delays! We had our slab poured at the end of January and although we are building a big home, we are only a stage on from you- we have the internal plumbing completed. We are also waiting for the brickies but do not yet have a start date... Yes we have been very blessed with the pace of our build. I think for me i dont mind if there are delays as long as there is good communication from the builder and with better built homes they have been awesome from the first meeting. They have also been spot on with their time frames so far and i think as they are a smaller builder they have the time to really give good quality focus to each of their customers. Thanks so much for dropping by. I have started following your own build so we can compare our builds as they progress together. I hope your build goes smoothly as well. Our Better Built Homes Journey 31Apr 24, 2017 2:31 pm Hi Krusade25, So glad to have found this thread! Good to know your build is progressing so well. I was wondering if you could tell me about the color selections - variety/quality being offered as standard by Better built homes? How are the tiles and kitchen selections that come as standard? Cheers Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 33Apr 24, 2017 7:31 pm DDSA Hi Krusade25, So glad to have found this thread! Good to know your build is progressing so well. I was wondering if you could tell me about the color selections - variety/quality being offered as standard by Better built homes? How are the tiles and kitchen selections that come as standard? Cheers Hi DDSA Thanks so much for dropping by. We found the selections of fittings and kitchen options more than adequate. Of course you can pay extra for your choice of fittings and they are very flexible in this regard and in addition to this their upgrade prices are reasonable. The other thing that we also liked was that things like fly screens and standard driveway was included which means less cost to have to account for later on. We knew that it was accounted for in the price but for budgeting purposes it was one less thing to worry about after we get the keys. Better built uses colortile for their range of tiling options. The standard range is basic and it can be a struggle to get some decent customer service from them. However we did upgrade the tile for the alfresco and master ensuite and again the upgrade prices were reasonable. Not cheap, but not over the top. We chose not to get carpet so we don't know what that range is like. We also chose to do our own flooring in the living areas. We were going down the road of tile but we didn't really like anything that was offered to us. We decided to do it ourselves and then we decided to go down the path of vinyl plank which we are doing through carpet call and not through Better Built. As with any builder you go through, the basic range is just that. If you want something special of course you have to pay extra for it. I would suggest though having a look through their brochure of what is included and I think you will be surprised as to how much you get as standard and the quality of those items. It was a big selling point for us and we went with a lot of the standard options that were offered as there was really no need to upgrade certain things. Sorry for the long winded reply. If I missed something just let me know and I can get back to you. All the best for your decision making and thanks for following our journey. Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 34Apr 27, 2017 1:51 pm Some good progress there considering you had very little at the beginning of May. Are you expecting to finish within their specified build period? Was it 36 - 42 weeks? Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 35Apr 27, 2017 5:21 pm Hi lostdreamhome Thanks for that. Yes we have been very pleased with the quick progress over the last month. We have bricks booked in on the 3rd or the tenth depending on factors but at the moment we are full steam ahead and I am very grateful. Yes our contract is standard and it is something like 36 weeks with allowance for rain extended days etc. Very standard and if they hold to within that time frame (which looks very promising at this stage and with their great level of communication) we should definitely be in before Christmas. Thanks for dropping by. Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 36Apr 28, 2017 10:30 pm 28 April 2017: Today is my daughter's birthday and to celebrate, Better Built Homes decided to surprise her by working on the house for the last 3 days and doing all of the internal plumbing and starting on the first floor brickwork!!!! Here I was thinking that we were waiting until Tuesday for them to START the brickwork but lo and behold they want to FINISH the first floor by Tuesday. Might take a couple of weeks for the second floor to be completed but to be honest I am just over the moon with how our build has been going. They are all friendly and more than willing to give you some of their time. They also take great pride in their work and want you to feel that the house they are building for you is as important to them as it is to us. Can't express how good that makes you feel as a client. Till next time everyone, Happy Building! Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 37Apr 29, 2017 9:13 pm Looking good Krusade, we are still in council but hopefully our build goes as great as yours is going Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 38May 01, 2017 12:58 pm mathewfrost Looking good Krusade, we are still in council but hopefully our build goes as great as yours is going Thanks for that mathewfrost. Yes we are very pleased so far. Hoping your council does not take too much longer. Also if you can, when you start see if you can get Aaron as your site supervisor. He is a legend! Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 39May 02, 2017 9:29 pm 2 May 2017: Things are still buzzing over at the Kruse 35 build in Spring Farm. Better Built Homes just keep surprising me by giving me a timeline and actually doing things EARLIER than what they say. Completely the opposite of what most people experience with their builder. I was very happy to have bricks started. I was told that it would take about 2 weeks to get the scaffolding in and maybe get the top floor bricked then and then onto the roof. Well as you may have guessed, 6:30 this morning they are putting up the scaffolding and plumbers came to finalise the rest of the internal plumbing. Then I found out there were 5 bricklayers onsite on Saturday continuing to work on bricking up the house. Incredible progress. I don't know how long it will last for but as we keep saying, we are continuing to enjoy the ride! Very happy so far with the service, quality and speed at which our house is coming along. Till next time everyone, Happy Building! Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 40May 09, 2017 7:33 pm 9 May 2017: So my wife and I decided to stop by the house as we had heard on Friday that the brickies were going to start about 1.5 weeks earlier than anticipated. So they started back today and we have been told that they will now stay until the job is finished. Worst case scenario they will be finished by next Friday. But at the rate they are going it could possibly be even sooner. Met the ever friendly Brayden the carpenter on site as he told us that the roof trusses over our rear balcony were also installed today. Very grateful for the continuing progress and excellent communication.
