Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 88Aug 20, 2017 1:50 pm Annu Hi Krusade, Its really very nice to know how fast better build homes are. For our dream home, they have already installed fences and also marked the slab on the ground after leveling. I just went and thought of checking but even before they have already started preparing for it. I'm yet to contact supervisor, must say very impressed. Will keep you posted. Cheers Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 89Aug 21, 2017 9:25 am wow Krusade25, it's wonderful to see your progress, looks like you will be in sooner than anticipated at this pace also love your tiling selection, did you end up deciding to do your own flooring? if so, how do you coordinate the whole thing with BBH timeframe wise? did they reduce the quote for you for not doing flooring with them? from my end, i just received the revised pre-tender estimate from Neil, wow, i nearly fell off the chair haha, i will need to spend more time to read it again and again and again over the next few weeks to get ready for the tender acceptance appointment. keep the weekly updates coming, never be sorry for loading us photos, love them! Thanks so much siusiufamily. We did decide to do our own flooring. We were not too keen on the range of flooring for the house and we didn't want carpet so we got a small credit back and we went with Vinyl plank flooring for the whole house. With those tiles, we made the selections so long ago so it is a big relief to see them and still be happy with them! Yes prices are a bit of a surprise at first but considering their workmanship and the movement of their builds I would go with Better Built again if we had a do over! Thanks for the encouragement and thanks for stopping by. I hope your build goes as well as our one has. Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 93Aug 26, 2017 8:00 pm 26 August 2017: I didn't think it was going to be a particularly busy week but as always Aaron surprised us with a lot more progress than anticipated. He does a great job with that. So we started the week with painters coming in to paint all of the door and window frames as well as the staircase handrails and the alfresco ceiling. Then the tilers came to finish off the grouting to all of the tiling areas making them look complete. (The tilers did an awesome job by the way). Fence was straightened and fixed to stop curious intruders wandering onto the site. Then we had some carpenters come in to fix the kitchen framing for the window as well as punch some holes in the doors for the internal doors. We had gyprockers come in to put the finishing touches to the main ensuite cornice and finish off the gyprock for under the stairs. The electrician started installing all of our downlights as well as all of the ixl heatlamps and exhaust fans. Then as we thought we were done for the week, BAM!, in goes our Caesarstone benchtops which was just an awesome surprise! For the cherry on the cake, the undermount sink as well as the basins for all of the ensuites and bathrooms were also installed. Time to stop writing an essay and go to the photo roll! The council and paperwork was PAINFUL! But this...this is the part of the ride we have been waiting for! Till next time, happy building everyone! Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 94Sep 02, 2017 9:05 am 2 September 2017: Things are still humming along at the Kruse35. We said goodbye to our site supervisor Aaron on Friday but our new SS Peter sounds like he knows what he is talking about which is great. So a quick recap of what happened this week. We had all of the door handles installed as well as door stops meaning doors can now be closed! Then we had plumbers come in and install all of the taps, toilets and shower heads in all of the bathrooms, laundry and kitchen. Electrical continued with the installation of more downlights and ceiling fans and the gyprockers came in to iron out a few bumps in the walls. Overall another satisfying week as we move another step closer to getting the keys! As always, here come the pics. Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 95Sep 02, 2017 7:29 pm 3 September 2017: A really quick update here. We popped by and noticed that the air con vents have been installed and some little bits of carpentry work was also done. However the big surprise was that the privacy screens had arrived and were installed in the balcony. I had always thought that I would just take them straight down after we got our OC but you know what....they look so much better than I thought they would. By the way my wife is a professional photographer so you might notice that today's pics look heaps better than the pics I usually post that I have taken. Wisdom Homes Impression 38 at North Kellyville - Contract signed on 24 Dec 2017 - Land settled on 13 April 2018 - DA approved on 14 June 2018 - Waiting for end panel Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 97Sep 09, 2017 7:08 pm 9 September 2017: We are now in the season of little jobs being done. This week started with the installation of shower screens in all bathrooms. We finally had our back window installed which meant our house is finally safe from wet and wild elements. The correct Caesarstone benchtop was installed in our master bathroom with waterfall edge! Carpenters came in and installed the step to our home theatre, fixed and patched a large number of wall imperfections and fixed the gap between the stairs and the gyprock. They also installed all of the outdoor square cornices in the balcony, laid the small tile splashbacks in 3 bathrooms and put the final fitting for the aircon fittings. Last but definitely not least the Hills Hub was installed meaning all TV points and data outlets were installed along with the alarm system. Re: Our Better Built Homes Journey 99Sep 17, 2017 7:02 am 17 September 2017: We are getting closer and closer to our endgame in our building journey. Had a chat to our SS and he said that we have a tentative PCI date for 3rd October which had me shouting for joy over the phone to my wife! He says if all goes according to plan we may even get keys between 10 - 17 October which would be amazing. So what happened this week? Well let me tell you! All electrical was completed. This included the downlights to everything and also included our "earrings" at the front of the house and pendants in the kitchen which we are ecstatic that they are all working together. Not to mention the fact that we were so surprised when the lights actually turned on and we could see them in all their glory for the first time! All wardrobe, linen and pantry fitouts were also done and look ridiculously awesome. (WIR brought a tear to my wife's eye!). We are nearly there. Plumbing is due to be finalised on Tuesday. Painters are giving final coats on Friday. Can't wait to see the finished product. Lot of pictures coming so be warned.
