Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 28, 2020 10:13 am Hello Everyone ! I am in the design phase of my home and going through the initial documents from the builder. I have some queries if you can please assist. 1. The builder has mentioned about using Hebel 50mm for first floor walls. They are asking for $$ to upgrade the 50mm to 75mm. Is there a benefit to upgrade to 75mm ? Do you see any concerns of using 50mm instead of 75mm Hebel ? 2. I have 2.7m ground floor with 2370mm doors including the stacker doors. Can you please suggest what would be the suggested Windows head height. Currently its nominated as 2400mm. 3. I would be requesting pre-wiring for the Solar which I would be getting installed after handover. Do you have any suggestion of what all should I request for it and if there is any special type of conduit. 4. Also I was planning ahead for Electric Car Charging provision in garage. Any suggestions what should be included now as provision ? Thanks and looking forward to hearing form you ! Re: Hebel, Electrical & Door's Questions 2Aug 28, 2020 12:36 pm 1. The 50mm Hebel wall panels are very new in the market place. You will get better insulation from the EPS polystyrene foam systems. Using thicker wall systems will provide "depth" around your windows and small benefits for insulation. The critical aspect for these closed cavity or non-cavity systems is the installation. This starts with framing, insulation, installation, rendering, painting etc, "the complete system". Will need to be painted and all windows & doors caulked (critical) Re: Hebel, Electrical & Door's Questions 3Aug 29, 2020 11:12 am Mirrmu83 1. Also the default offering from the builder is Easytex which is like 8.5mm thick. You made a good point about the depth around the windows which I didn't think about. The builder will render the Hebel and I have clearly mentioned in my tender that it has to be as per CSR recommended installation. Thanks. Re: Hebel, Electrical & Door's Questions 4Aug 30, 2020 9:53 am Hi, Most render finishes these days are base-coat (sand, cement, polymer & lime) and then a Coloured Trowel on Texture. Whether this is over brick, Hebel, Blueboard or EPS Foam it requires painting. All of the main render manufacturers stipulate this (Rockcote, DULUx, Unitiex, MacRender) in their warranty documents. The reasons are for ugly staining, true colour and to provide a reasonably waterproof wall, The external wall is 2 components, the "cladding" system and the "coating" system. Re: Hebel, Electrical & Door's Questions 5Aug 30, 2020 10:54 am We used 100mm NRG panel, it has a mesh (?fibreglass) that is placed with the first coat of base render, providing more strength. Then they did an undercoat then we had rockcote with the colour mixed through placed over the top, very happy with the finish. In regards to conduit, every electrical penetration has a conduit as per the manufacturers recommendation. Re: Hebel, Electrical & Door's Questions 6Aug 30, 2020 6:34 pm Thanks for the info. Do you know what would be thickness of the wall with hebel 50mm. Looking at the drawings seems like it’s drawn as 190mm. I know with bricks it’s 240mm. With 90mm stud framework and 50mm hebel it’s like 50mm for insulation ? Does it sound right ? I was looking at different options for a fence for my build and Hebel PowerFence seemed like a good option (one of the criteria was a solid wall look). However, I don't… 0 5902 1 6629 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6191 |
