Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 02, 2015 10:57 am Hi All, My partner and I have put a deposit down on land in Jordan Springs, due to be registered in June. We have decided to go with Kurrajong Homes, and so far have not had any problems with them other than being a bit slow in replying to emails. Which isn't that big of a deal as we are in no hurry at the moment. Other than that our salesman was very helpful with choosing a floor plan for us that suited our needs. I'm getting concerned at all the bad reviews I've been seeing for Kurrajong Homes and would like to know of anyone else building with them and what their experiences have been? What village of JS? I'm building in northridge on Matthew bell way due to register in June also. Very exciting, can't wait for it to roll around. I can't help with kurrajong homes unfortunately but if they're a smaller builder you may find the bad experiences are the only ones you hear of, if there's not many people on the forum building with them (because they're not national or the huge builders) you're likely to only see the bad reviews on product review sites. Most happy people don't compliment and post about great things which is sad. Hopefully there is someone on here that can shed more insight, best of luck with everything Ash Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 3Feb 02, 2015 9:22 pm Hi Ash, we are building in the Alumuna Walk village! Who have you decided to build with? I was really excited for things to start happening but all these reviews are making me stressed. But I'm hoping you may be right with your theory, people who are happy with their work probably won't go out of thier way to post on a public forum. I've decided to build with coral homes, just about to sign contracts and do my selections .. Yay!! Yeah I think that there has to be a lot of positive builds out there but they're just happily living in their homes.. Any builder has the potential for things to go wrong, it all depends on your trades and SS. Just have to be prepared to monitor everything I guess.. Just in case Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 5Feb 03, 2015 7:18 am It's right next to the lake which I'm so excited about I haven't heard of them, how have they been so far? My partner and I are going to get an independent building inspector to keep an eye on every thing. Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 6Feb 06, 2015 11:38 am Hi Lily123456, We built with Kurrajong Homes and just want to alert you about our experience. They were very good at the beginning. They were happy to meet on weekends too but as soon as we signed the tender it is very hard to communicate with them. They started construction more than six months later. All because their staff did not do proper documentation for council approvals. Now handed over and a lot of issues even after six weeks of handover. When asked to get things fixed we were treated very rudely. Their workmanship goes in terms of legal tolerance. We are very frustrated with several things. You are welcome to see our home and find out yourself how the workmanship is. I would not recommend these guys to anyone at all. If you have not signed tender, I think there are much better builders than these bunch of thugs. Hope it helps. Good Luck. Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 7Feb 06, 2015 11:55 am Hi Aussiemate, That is not good to hear, where abouts did you build and how long ago? We've signed a tender and have put down a $3000 deposit. We are in the process of doing colour selections and preparing to build in June. Could you go into a bit more detail? Did you get an independent building inspector to check everything? Follow Our Build Here: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75667 Building with Kurrajong Homes in Alumuna Walk Village. Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 8Feb 19, 2015 2:41 pm Hi All, I am currentl building with Kurrajong Homes, and I have been worried about all the negative comments about them but I am happy to say I have had no problem with them, in fact I am so pleased at how quickly they have poured my slab we are the first lot on our block that has had anything done to it (well that was yesterday) I wasnt expecting things to happen so quickly and I received an email from Customer Relations manager there yesterdat, Wendy telling me our slab will be poured tomorrow so far, I am impressed Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 9Feb 19, 2015 2:45 pm I also found at the beginning delay in emails and what not, but once i brought it up with them and mentioning to them how uneasy i was because of all the things I have read, I have been getting prompt replies now and they have answered every one of my silly questions. They also mentioned to me, that they have a new on site manager because of all the issues they have had previously. Im building in Ropes Crossing Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 10Feb 19, 2015 2:48 pm Hi Madsmc, Thats really good to hear, it would be great if you could keep me updated on your progress. I was wondering if I should say something to them or not, but I didn't want to risk there being issues or any rudeness. We have been getting very prompt replies lately which is good. Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 11Feb 19, 2015 2:51 pm I'm building in the Talloway release at Ropes Crossing. It is our first home, so its super exciting. I know how you must be feeling reading all of the negative comments about Kurrajong Homes, they scare me so much. I will keep you updated I just received my slab invoice today, so going to check it out today. We signed our contract on land in Feb last year and the land registered in December '14 - so this has been a very long time coming!! Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 12Feb 19, 2015 2:56 pm So they started building pretty quickly at least, thats good to hear. I hope it all goes smoothly for you. We are in the process of having our final plans drawn up to be submitted to Lend Lease and Council. Then we will just be waiting until our land is registered. Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 13Feb 19, 2015 2:57 pm After they didnt reply to me I stopped being as nice and i wasnt getting anywhere with them, I spoke to Mark on the phone and he explained the processes they have, which explained why things took ages to come back to me, because they do things on certain days... if they had explained it to me, I would have been alot more understanding, and now Im alot more nice and I really feel like it makes a huge impact on how they respond back to me. I got an email the other week saying all staff would be out on such and such day because of training, I thought that was a positive My boyfriend and I are pretty young, Im 21 and he is 25 so I thought maybe they were treating us the way they did because of our age and not taking us seriously but once I mentioned that to Mark he assured me that was not the case, sometimes just being straight up is the best option. But everyone I know who has built a home, complains about the builders, so it isnt just Kurrajong Homes. Yea super quick, I would hate to see all these houses around us going up and our block sit vacant.. Thats really good Lend Lease are pretty quick getting back to them, Jordan Springs is Penrith Coucil, so im not sure how they are, but Blacktown got ours back in approx 2 weeks Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 15Mar 03, 2015 8:40 am madsmc After they didnt reply to me I stopped being as nice and i wasnt getting anywhere with them, I spoke to Mark on the phone and he explained the processes they have, which explained why things took ages to come back to me, because they do things on certain days... if they had explained it to me, I would have been alot more understanding, and now Im alot more nice and I really feel like it makes a huge impact on how they respond back to me. My partner and I are in our early 20's as well, I feel like no one takes us seriously because of it -_- What processes did he tell you about? I'm reluctant to start being mean because I just want things to run smoothly, but we are going to get an independent building inspector to check everything during the build. How is everything going with your land/build? Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 16Mar 25, 2015 11:23 am UPDATE! Have finally decided on our landscaping plan so now our plans can be submitted to Lend Lease for approval Was out at our land last weekend and we now have grass and trees on the council side of the footpath. Everything is still fenced off though, we are so close yet so far. Kurrajong have been really good which is a relief, they are still a little slow but I understand that these things take time. How is everyone else going? Our final plan, so exciting Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Follow Our Build Here: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75667 Building with Kurrajong Homes in Alumuna Walk Village. Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 17Mar 25, 2015 11:28 am How exciting! That's looks great! Ours is going well - slab is down and we now have a fence around the block and portaloo. We were told the frame was being delivered on the 18th of March and unfortunately it has still not arrived I understand that it's not in their control as it's an outsourced company I just wish they wouldn't give dates... Then we went out yesterday to see if it had arrived and we had a timber frame stacked on our lot... Our house is a steel frame, I called them and they called the supervisor and he said the frame company dropped it to the wrong site but I'm not sure how because we don't even have a kurrajong sign up... But who knows they have said that our frame is coming today and they are starting today. I'll let you know how that goes Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 19Mar 25, 2015 11:43 am Oh no, I hope it all gets sorted out quickly for you! How often do you visit your site? And how are Kurrajong with letting you know when things are happening, do they send you an email or something? I can't wait to see your progress Ours isn't the biggest either, but you're right we have to start somewhere . And I would rather live in a smaller house that looked really nice than a large ugly house lol. I love the laundry in the garage, gives you good access to the courtyard. Re: Who is building with Kurrajong Homes? 20Mar 25, 2015 11:47 am They aren't to bad - I'm such a pest so we get updates when I email but other then that I think just invoices tell us what stage we are at. My boyfriend finishes work pretty early so he goes out to the site basically everyday. We don't live to far though, we are in Windsor at the moment so isn't to far. Oh that looks great! - did kurrajong give you those? We never got them. Yea was hard to decide the laundry my boyfriend wanted to have a separate one but we really needed to make the most of the space we have. Ask for references and speak to them.
