Shame about the pendant not being bog enough. It looked awesome, I was going to check it out for us.
Regarding flooring Have you checked out connollys in coburg https://connollys.com.au we have had a quote from them and they seem very competitive and good quality options - their display is excellent.
We are hoping to use them.

Yeah I was a bit devo about the pendant too. It's lovely but the timber is not heavy enough to be a statement IYKWIM.

Thanks for that tip. I have come across them in my google search. Do they have actually planks of flooring you can see? I need to see it laid; can't choose from a tiny square! Definitely think we are going engineered / timber veneer if we can afford it.

Yes they have there warehouse set up like a house, so you move from room to room and each one has a different flooring - certainly for the strip timber flooring anyway. For the engineered/veneer flooring there was a lot of choices also. Worth a look.

Popped in today on my lunch break. Lovely stuff but unfortunately a bit beyond our budget. Of course I liked the most expensive stuff and not the stuff we can actually afford!

Went to Brisbane the other day. Funny enough, we missed your house... haha. Did some therapeutic and birthday party shopping. Still waiting for our house... will start dreaming of moving in once we see a driveway!

I wonder if you were keen on the staircase pendant done by one of the block couples.. when you said you didn't find any big enough.. I thought about the one featured.. which might fit your home style??

Thanks for sharing. Love this pendant just not quite what we are after. I'm thinking something more rustic with wood or wrought iron but there does not seem to be much choice along those lines here in Aust, well from what I can see online anyway.

A company in Sydney is going to be importing some American style lighting soon and I quite like this look of this one. I'm terribly indecisive though..!

No worries! We bought the birthday stuff for Lukie's party. And we got to nail down the pendant choice with some stops at a few lighting stores. Oo.... got a plug-in LED bulb for only 5$ in the bargain bin at Beacon! Oggled over some really nice ceiling /foyer pendants though not your style.
And we got more fabric and materials for our curtains.

With your pendant quest, sounds like vintage or maybe even scoping out some garage sales could find your diamond in the rough. America definitely has it got it for choice... much bigger country with more people and hence more choice for design materials.

Oh sounds like you've been busy! That's great you've found some stuff already. I've just started looking at curtains and blinds as well - another minefield! I've been warned to set aside at least $10K for this - ouch!!

Yep we are definitely behind the ball when it comes to lighting choices. The only issue buying from the US is the different voltage meaning you'd have to get it rewired here first before you can install them

10k for curtains?! My husband is gonna die. I didn't put any money aside for that in the budget!

We were quoted 25K for curtains and blinds for our build if we went through Porter Davis/Birk.

Suffice to say we declined and will do post handover.

holy cow! Our blinds through M are only $2k for the whole house.

I have just managed to catch up on your build and everything is looking great. It's really exciting when your vision starts coming together.

Re: the water meter, ours was initially frozen and repositioned due to its location in the path of our future driveway. With a hefty charge by Metricon to do so.

So the plumbers came and did their thing and then I checked it and it was right on the edge of the driveway in a position where I would surely collide with it at night.

So I requested it to be moved for the second time but there was no charge as the plumbers stuffed up the first time round.
