Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with fowler homes 42Oct 20, 2021 11:02 pm Mikaela3105 - a February start is exciting. I’ll have a look at your blog also. Will be great to follow along your build. Our experience with Fowler so far is also very positive. We are only at the pre-tender stage though: Re: Building with fowler homes 43Oct 20, 2021 11:15 pm Mikaela3105 Sam B6 Mikaela3105 that’s great to hear! When do you expect to start building? Have you looked at their colour choices and tile choice stuff yet? Was it a good selection - or did you pick upgrades to standard? We are a bit worried about how much extra we need if we don’t like the basics.... Would love to hear how your progress comes along. Happy to share ours also. We’re probably looking at February start as Christmas lockdown is fast approaching and we have two more appointments to complete. We have been really impressed with the inclusions and have spent very minimal on upgrades. We had a colour scheme and picked from the included options. I do know others have spent crazy in upgrades but we’ve come in under budget so far 😊 We have our blog buildingourtoorak.weebly.com and I’ve updated that with a fair bit of detail too 😊 Hi again Mikaela3105, I cannot seem to find your blog using the page you cite above, can you please provide the link again? Thanks! Re: Building with fowler homes 44Oct 21, 2021 5:15 am Sam B6 Mikaela3105 Sam B6 Mikaela3105 that’s great to hear! When do you expect to start building? Thanks! Hey, We’re in pre-construction and have now hit a wall. Things just aren’t happening now, but my client relations specialist is well aware of how I feel right now.. https://buildingourtoorak.weebly.com/ 😊 Re: Building with fowler homes 46Oct 25, 2021 6:44 pm Sam B6 Hi Mikaela3105, Have you had any progress since your last post? May I ask what the hold up is? We have finally received the tiling quote and contact from the kitchen company to book in our appointment. We have been having a tough time with our Client Relations Specialist and the Estimation team which they are well aware of my feelings haha but they’re apparently trying to push the plans through to drafting to get our DA in - we will wait and see about that 🙄 Re: Building with fowler homes 47Oct 25, 2021 9:42 pm Mikaela3105 Sam B6 Hi Mikaela3105, Have you had any progress since your last post? Re: Building with fowler homes 49Nov 22, 2021 8:27 pm Hi everyone, New to thread here. We're currently looking at building with Fowler Homes but still keeping our options opened. How's everyone's experience with them so far? We received a prelim cost estimation and the site cost was almost $80k! Are their estimates generally accurate? And did anyone get charged extra because they live outside Fowler's build area? Thanks! Re: Building with fowler homes 50Nov 23, 2021 5:38 am Hey Mikaela3105, have you progressed at all?[/quote] We have completed all appointments (awaiting quotes from kitchen and internals). DA approval has been granted but nothing can happen until all quotes are received and drafting draws up the construction plans. Without getting myself in trouble, I am sick of the constant errors in everything and have requested to speak to someone higher up as I’m ready to pull out of the entire thing. Re: Building with fowler homes 51Nov 23, 2021 7:28 am How much have you had to pay up until this point? Will it be a big loss and waste of time to pull out at this time? Re: Building with fowler homes 52Nov 23, 2021 11:07 am Mikaela3105 Hey Mikaela3105, have you progressed at all? We've only just been given a prelim cost estimation. We havent paid $2k for the tender yet so still early stages! We're pretty set on Fowler homes because they have our ideal floor plan without spending an arm and a leg, but they haven't given us a lot of discounts so we're inquiring else where and coming back to Fowler to see if they can price match lol. Oh no.. that doesn't sound good at all. Are they getting all the variations wrong? Re: Building with fowler homes 53Nov 30, 2021 11:18 pm Mikaela3105 Hey Mikaela3105, have you progressed at all? Do you think it is just the person you are dealing with? Or the draftsmen? Re: Building with fowler homes 54Jan 17, 2022 6:08 pm MNT91 Mikaela3105 Hey Mikaela3105, have you progressed at all? We have come to a halt with progress as well. How did you go with speaking to someone higher up? Re: Building with fowler homes 57Feb 04, 2023 9:25 pm Sam B6 HA_IP Looks like this thread got no update for over a year, anyone still building with them? We are! Just started construction! No slab yet…. Which design r u after? also I wanted to check when they say Fixed price contract - does it include all site cost like stormwater connection, drop edge beam etc... I am only at very beginning, 2k paid to survey, soil test. High level they guided 15k Hydraulic construction Including stormwater and drainage works, 30k for Drop edge beam, import fill. I have ~0.5 slope. Any idea how much these change afterwards or are these part of Fixed price Re: Building with fowler homes 58Feb 05, 2023 11:10 am HA_IP Sam B6 HA_IP Looks like this thread got no update for over a year, anyone still building with them? Some things in the tender will say ‘provision for’ and that means the price could change after they do all the proper surveys etc. have to say ours was pretty much swings and roundabouts on provisions. That is, some were under and some were over. Fowler have pretty good with giving credits when they full costs come in under the amount provided in the contract. Just read your tender and contract closely to see what is included. Re: Building with fowler homes 59Feb 13, 2023 8:36 am We are building with them. We signed up June 2021. We have completed demo and just waiting for them to give us next steps. They do not move quickly, that I can confirm. There is a lot of chasing up and vague answers to questions - very non-commital. Here's hoping things start going smoother Re: Building with fowler homes 60Feb 13, 2023 8:56 am StuK We are building with them. We signed up June 2021. Here's hoping things start going smoother Which design are you after, and have you customized - I get the feeling standard base price look lot cheaper than any customization request I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 108457 Anyone built with Fowler Homes? Feedback? Especially any things concerning or negatives? Have heard some horror… 0 9498 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 77801 |
