We went over our budget by $120,000. Our site cost was 26,000 then by the time it went to developers approval. It's went up by 11,000 plus another &3,500 for the extended eves. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: Modified Burbank Indigo 5100 in Grandvue Officer 203May 17, 2017 4:57 pm Hi Doulton i know you are building with Metricon and Metricon adds extra unexpected costs towards the end hence why we went with burbank and luckily we did not sign with Metricon. This would be our 3rd home that we are buying but it is our first build. We have signed contracts with burbank in february the site costs are fixed and we have it in writing that it will not be going up but i am curious to know from Gravy and or other fellow burbank customers if they have ran into further costs once it has hit the developers desk i know metricon spun alot of you know what with us towards the end and misled us. All honesty. I think they are all as bad as each other lol. There's always someone that's complaining about their builders and costing and that's with every builder. I don't regret going with m. Cos they did all the structural changers that we needed. That no one else could have done. But In saying that they have been a big headache. I just hope the headache is worth it in the end. All I would say is expect the unexpected when it comes to any builders. Specially with pricing. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: Modified Burbank Indigo 5100 in Grandvue Officer 205May 17, 2017 5:25 pm dreamhomemummy Hi Doulton i know you are building with Metricon and Metricon adds extra unexpected costs towards the end hence why we went with burbank and luckily we did not sign with Metricon. Hey Dreamhomemummy Our site costs were also fixed, and yes they will not be able to charge extra for the slab no matter what. When we needed to change our garage roof due to developer requirements, the extra cost was around $700. My parents next door didn't have a fixed site cost (Burbank refused to fix theirs), they did an estimate and luckily for them they actually lowered it a little bit by final tender so it ended up being over a thousand dollars cheaper than ours. After signing final contracts they also had to make some changes and it was around the $1300 mark. Did Patricia get back to you on what the items were that needed amending? Well that price she gave you for the garage is pretty good but i am praying that nothing else will come in the way and going into the unknown again 😇. Doulton yes i totally get you metricon are good with structural changes they did our structural changes for us but misled us with an extra $100,000 more at preliminary contract. Hubby and i looked at one another as we left the metricon appointment and said ok let's just buy another established home. The next day we went to burbank 😇 Re: Modified Burbank Indigo 5100 in Grandvue Officer 207May 17, 2017 9:21 pm dreamhomemummy Hi Gravy, thanks for your reply, no she has not given the list to us of the 25 items she tells us not to worry and that she does not want to alarm us but after reading things online i am worried. I was so close too. But I knew in the end they are the only ones that can do what we wanted. Plus I just kept thinking how all builders are the same. Burbank apparently is owned by urban edge did you know that? viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: Modified Burbank Indigo 5100 in Grandvue Officer 208May 17, 2017 9:35 pm Hi Doulton, We got our $1000 deposit back last year before Christmas from Metricon. But I think it was worth changing. As the original consultant he was fantastic. And the ones that took over were shifty. And the price went sky rocket. Was getting a bigger house with m for $4000 more. Not including extension just the base price. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: Modified Burbank Indigo 5100 in Grandvue Officer 212May 18, 2017 12:30 am Doulton at least now you will have your dream home 😊 Re: Modified Burbank Indigo 5100 in Grandvue Officer 213May 18, 2017 12:51 am dreamhomemummy Doulton at least now you will have your dream home Thanks. We looked at burbank as an alternative as henley were taking too long, but henley ended up getting it all started for us. However we loved burbanks designs and floorplans they make a massive house for a really decent price! I look forward to seeing how all of this comes together! Also love that estate, we had a look there as we loved the larger blocks but it was just that little bit too far for me from work. Re: Modified Burbank Indigo 5100 in Grandvue Officer 215May 18, 2017 1:39 pm Gravy, I'm also building with Burbank and have been lurking on your thread for a while now Your house looks Great! It must be so exciting how quickly its going up. Re: Modified Burbank Indigo 5100 in Grandvue Officer 216May 18, 2017 3:25 pm stayxtrue Looking good! It's very true about the space vs travel time, hubby and I had many discussions/arguments on whether to stay where we are now or take the plunge and move out further where we could afford something bigger. I grew up in Wantirna and have spent the last 7 years in Bayswater/Boronia and we love the area, but if we want to build/buy here we'd be looking at something half the size. I hope our decision pays off and we don't end up regretting the long commutes, but sacrifices had to be made somewhere and at least we hopefully will have the dream home we've always wanted. tinyhouse-hia Gravy, I'm also building with Burbank and have been lurking on your thread for a while now Your house looks Great! It must be so exciting how quickly its going up. Thanks Tinyhouse, always good to meet a fellow Burbankian - we seem few and far between here on homeone! What house are you building? We're ecstatic about the progress so far, building sure has been one of the most exciting/frustrating experiences I've ever had Hopefully it will end up being one of the most rewarding experiences too. I'm just thankful the long admin phase is over, I still have to pinch myself sometimes LOL. Let's hope the rest of the build keeps this pace and we can get in quick! Can't wait! At this rate - it looks like you will be done in no time. I'm building the Dyson 154, it's part of their small lot range, so very small . Yeah there aren't many people with Burbank on here, which got me a bit worried, but haven't had any real dramas yet. Probably shouldn't speak too soon , since I only just got my building permit . The beauty of a smaller house is they should be able to smash it out in no time. I heard they can do them 4 months start to finish Just seems crazy that you can go from an empty piece of land to a fully finished home in that amount of time. Amazing!
