Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 24, 2017 12:34 pm Hi All, just had our PVC come through finally - I was surprised by the upgrade cost of the Aqua Enamel: Provide non-standard Aqua Enamel paint finish to internal woodwork, (Skirting, architraves, window jambs and internal flush panel doors) as per Colour Selection. $1,780 Our walls will be Tranquil Retreat with the trims and doors etc all done in vivid white. Does it really make a difference? Happy to pay the cost, but only if its actually worth it... Thanks! You definitely want enamel paint on your trims as it is more hard wearing, but given the choice, I would actually prefer oil based. However, I would expect that to be more expensive again. I'd chat to your builder or painter about the available options. More importantly, ask about how many coats of paint they are applying across the board and whether they are being brushed/rolled or sprayed on. Re: Aqua Enamel Paint - worth the upgrade? 3Feb 24, 2017 9:15 pm Vivid white needs three coats as it doesn't cover very well. So you're upgraded costs might be because of that aswell. Aqua enamel won't yellow over time like Super enamel but it is not as hard wearing and chips easier. Re: Aqua Enamel Paint - worth the upgrade? 4Feb 25, 2017 8:44 am We chose it as they told us that it will help/stop the white from going yellow, but I also don't want it to chip easier. We did ask in our appointment and this was the only thing discussed with us, but again they don't discuss every possible option with you - I'm not sure what I should be asking for. I know they do 3 coats. I had the same issue and it turned out to be the roller. https://www.sherwin-williams.com/painti ... %20coating. 4 15126 In fairness nobody gave a crap about the ACCC and the gag clauses continued in the pro forma templates of a few other builders after the ACCC took on Wisdom, and more… 20 57402 |
