And lucky that your SS agreed about the porch. Re: Our Forever Home Build 122Jun 02, 2017 10:24 am How exciting!!! Bring on 28th!!!! Loving the laundry!!! So much space and storage, kind of wishing I took out the broom cupboard and just have it as bench tops and cupboards the whole way Re: Our Forever Home Build 124Jun 02, 2017 11:43 pm allblaqk A date! How exciting is that! How long has your build taken? Seems pretty speedy. And lucky that your SS agreed about the porch. We started on the 10th of Feb so feels super fast to me lol I think it has come down to our SS he seems to organise the tradies well so there is always someone there and no gaps in between trades, he seems to know his stuff which has been good, across the road and next door built with the same builder but had diff site supivisor and their house took forever They keep saying how they are shocked at how many trades are there lol After our first builder going bankrupt it's nice as don't think I could have handled any more stress after that issue 😂 Re: Our Forever Home Build 125Jun 02, 2017 11:46 pm charlibear How exciting!!! Haha I am sure you will absolute love your laundry! We have a linen closest on the other side of the laundry you can't see with sliding doors and ended up putting the broom cupboard in the end of that. I think we started same-ish time, and we are about only half-way compared to yours It's great when one bad turn leads to a better turn! And good on your SS! Definitely, on top of things (i.e. your front porch finish) and also managing the build well. We have our build flying now as well. Hope it continues. Aiming for late July/early August?? But so excited it's that time already The crappy bricks still are not fixed though, so we may have a fight on our hands.. they emailed asking for the final payment as it can take longer to be approved(yeh right, there is no way they are getting that before everything is picked up at the walkthrough and then fixed, nice try though lol) has anyone had any experience with a builder giving them compensation for something? for instance the window sills are so wonky which we have said we want pulled and done again no excuses as they are on the front of the house, but along with other brick work which is terrible, our grout colour turns to a different colour halfway up the house and looks just stupid! obviously they cant fix that but we don't feel like we should have to pay that full amount for a job that crappy and are going to be blessed with looking at that every day that we are living there, just makes me mad how they brickies did such a crap job! Re: Our Forever Home Build 128Jun 19, 2017 9:49 pm Congrats on the near-completion! And good luck with the final walk through... please send us pics when you can. not sure I can really offer any help with your options with withholding payment. hope you find a solution! LOL these are shocking right? The grout colour diff I can live with as well as the messy brick but those sills are driving me nuts lol Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Our Forever Home Build 131Jun 20, 2017 8:04 pm Omg are you serious??? How can he just stand there say that? So really you have no leg to stand on if that's "within" standards.... have you had an independent certifier go around and have a look at everything? I'm super for you Re: Our Forever Home Build 132Jun 20, 2017 8:11 pm I must admit I can't really see the issues you describe, but its probably because I'm looking at photos. I think I get what you mean about wonky sills. Shame they won't listen to you though not sure what your next option is. Maybe a private inspector? Re: Our Forever Home Build 133Jun 20, 2017 8:13 pm That's a really poor excuse, I wouldn't be happy with that brickwork either Follow our build with Express Two Storey (Ventura Group): http://tinyurl.com/jlykgph Follow our build with Express Two Storey (Ventura Group): viewtopic.php?f=31&t=85122 Re: Our Forever Home Build 134Jun 20, 2017 9:29 pm Thanks guys, nice to know it's not just me, they look worse in person I am so mad that they just fobbed it off and quite sad, we have had an amazing build so far and have been singing their praises. I have no idea what the next step is or who to even go to, to say he would be happy if his sills were like that is total bull, don't insult my intelligence lol Re: Our Forever Home Build 135Jun 21, 2017 6:41 am Ladybugs2 Thanks guys, nice to know it's not just me, they look worse in person I am so mad that they just fobbed it off and quite sad, we have had an amazing build so far and have been singing their praises. I would go that route if it's an issue for you. Well worth a few hundred dollars. majestic35.weebly.com Re: Our Forever Home Build 137Jun 21, 2017 9:04 am Oh that really sucks! How devastating Can you go over their heads and go to the owner/head office? Maybe leave a comment on their facebook page if they have one. Once stuff goes on social media a lot of businesses start to take notice. Re: Our Forever Home Build 138Jun 21, 2017 11:07 am Oh I hate being fobbed off! Take it further if you can. If your ss thinks your bricks are amazing and within standard, then I would call him on it and get it checked privately. We have our PCI tomorrow! so will be seeing the SS then, wondering what he will have to say about it as he was very quiet when the top dude was there! Re: Our Forever Home Build 140Jun 22, 2017 6:02 pm Hey hon. How did you get on today? I am hoping they are pulling their finger out! Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
