Will try to write this again!
End of week 74 and an update:
Full Occupancy Certificate received
Bank valuation completed and cheque waiting to be picked up
Oven replaced and working
Window gaps sealed and finished
Microwave trim being delivered Monday 18th (still won’t believe this until I see it)
Colour sealing done on driveway
Carpets and blinds booked to go in next week, SS has got permission for us to do this before handover.
Handover is confirmed for Friday 22nd.
I can not believe we are at the end. I have been channeling positivity all week and I think it worked, I’m so happy and a little emotional!!!

Driveway has been colour sealed so looks a bit better now. We had another excavator/concreter our to quote this morning he thought the driveway was an absolutely sh1t job! he reckons it will pool with water in the rain, will wait and see he could be right but The builders will have to fix it if it does as it was in our contract.

Thanks so much, I’m so excited I’m having trouble sleeping and it’s still 2 days to go before we get keys. Today we have carpets and bedroom blinds going in, I’m meeting with the SS at 8am so he can let the carpet people in. So much I want to buy and do but need to be careful with our $! Hopefully I won’t see any damage from all the rain 🤞🏻

Thanks well...nothing is ever straightforward with this build!! The carpet layers came and SS let them in, I went back to see them at 1.30 because the blinds people were there putting up the bedroom blinds. Carpet and blinds both make the house look amazing, the carpet guys will be there most of tomorrow finishing off. Other good news is the microwave trim has arrived!!!! It’s not been fitted but it’s there so that’s good. House is looking so clean, the carpet guy said it’s the cleanest new build he has been into. However....
The carpets are too thick and spongy with the underlay to shut the bedroom and wardrobe doors so they have all been taken off to lay the carpet. The doors need about 50mm shaved off the bottom. OMG I can’t believe it so near yet so far. We have decided it won’t stop handover and if necessary we will get a carpenter in to fix them. He was going to speak to our SS when he came to lock up at 4pm, I will go up there early before work and find out what the solution will be (if there is one!) I guess they may say it was up to us to have the carpets fitted before handover so we have to sort it out.

They weren’t great photos but I took these today...
the first one is at the top of the landing looking to two of the bedrooms, the second one is the upstairs lounge. I’m loving the colour, no pics of the blinds they are all double roller blinds, just got them for the bedrooms but ordering the rest tomorrow.

Wow nice staircase
What have you selected for downstairs flooring? Handover soon
We have tiles downstairs that were put in by the builder, I love carpet (but then I’m English and we have carpet everywhere ) so that means we have no flooring to do post handover. Our real estate agent wants to do an open house on the rental we are living in on Saturday, the house is an absolute mess with boxes everywhere so not sure how attractive we can make it look!
Will go down to the house this morning to see if there has been a solution to the carpet/doors situation....

Went to see carpet people today and had a look at the doors...the linen cupboard and wardrobe doors are mostly all off the bedroom doors looked ok. The sliding door from upstairs lounge to the study also needs adjusting. I phoned the SS he confirmed handover tomorrow!!! Also spoke about the doors and he umm’d and arr’d a bit so I just said we would sort it out post handover. I can’t be bothered now waiting for them to sort it out. I have got in contact with a local handyman who is coming out tomorrow morning to have a look, he said he could sort the doors out. Think it’s the best option.
The house has new carpet smell i love it!!!! Need to take the vacuum tomorrow to clean all the fluff up!
