Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 41Mar 08, 2017 7:53 am No not yet, we had a fairly dry day yesterday so was kinda hopeful however we had some steel beams delivered yesterday so it looks like they have everything they need to start except ....it's raining again today ☔️ Our Acacia build - viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 42Mar 08, 2017 10:07 am Oh no!!! I seriously hate the rain right now!! We haven't had our frames delivered yet but we are meant to get more rain on the weekend GJ Gardner Modified Coolum 277 viewtopic.php?t=83643 Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 43Mar 12, 2017 5:00 pm So our site is depressingly quiet, frames have been on site for a couple of weeks and no action, texted the SS on Friday as he hadn't called us, only to receive a text back saying he was on AL and not back until the middle of next week. Trying to stay upbeat but the fact is our contract says the build will take 26 weeks (not including Xmas break) and it may have delays due to weather of which we should be informed. We are now about to start week 10....I can not see the house being ready in 16 weeks time.....nor can I in 20 weeks! The really bad news is that we are now in for several days of rain. Our Acacia build - viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 44Mar 12, 2017 5:40 pm Your SS should have organised trades to a schedule while he is on AL, sorry your having to deal with his incompetence Our build time is also 26 weeks or 126 working days but we are only single story. We are in week 8 and frames have only just been delivered with frames to hopefully start tomorrow. I hope your frames go up this week too!! GJ Gardner Modified Coolum 277 viewtopic.php?t=83643 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 45Mar 13, 2017 11:40 am Our build time is 40 weeks. We are in 11 weeks counting from mid Dec 2015. Carpenters are working on site today. Just wondering if Burbank will be using same carpenters at your site after they finish up at my site. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 46Mar 13, 2017 11:58 am shazaw Our build time is 40 weeks. We are in 11 weeks counting from mid Dec 2015. Carpenters are working on site today. Just wondering if Burbank will be using same carpenters at your site after they finish up at my site. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624 I emailed Burbank this morning and they admitted that the frames should have been started they also told me it would be 40 weeks not 26 weeks! It explains a lot as I wondered how they would build it in 26 even with things moving quicker than they are. I checked our contract though and it definitely says 26 weeks and anytime after that we will receive $60 a day compensation.....wonder whether to hold them to it!!! Hopefully your carpenters will come to us soon! Our Acacia build - viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 47Mar 15, 2017 6:43 pm Hello trimum, have you received official letter from Burbank ref to starting date. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81624 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 48Mar 15, 2017 7:17 pm No we just had email contact with them, we had an email telling us the 20 day preparation had begun in November and then they were under contract to start the build. That would have been 20th December 2016 although they just put the fence up that first week and then went on Xmas leave for 3 weeks. They returned on 16th Jan and levelled the site so officially started on that day. Our Acacia build - viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 49Mar 15, 2017 8:13 pm We don't have any official letter for starting date. As we are experiencing too many rain days... we needs to added to the build time but with out starting date its a bit difficult. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81624 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 51Mar 20, 2017 7:19 pm Still absolutely no action from the site, we are now looking at nearly two months since the slab was laid, yes we have had rain in Sydney but to see other properties around us have frames go up during the last few weeks is a bit sole destroying. Hubby has a meeting with the SS tomorrow afternoon to find out what the heck is going on, it's all very well but we shouldn't have to do that, we should have good regular communication with the SS and be kept informed like we were promised. I'm trying so hard not to feel absolutely dejected by the whole process. I'm starting to wonder why carpenters don't want to work for Burbank...Frames and all the equipment are on site as they have been for several weeks now Our Acacia build - viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 53Mar 20, 2017 8:00 pm Still no frames up?! If it makes you feel any better we don't have frames up either I agree that's it's soul destroying. I just want to be able to walk through how house already so I know how you feel I hope you get some action this week!! GJ Gardner Modified Coolum 277 viewtopic.php?t=83643 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 54Mar 20, 2017 11:23 pm Hope your frames will go up soon. Our current SS never call us to let us know about delays. As a matter of fact we have to remind him of items that are missing. That why I go to site every day ,so I can check if anything done or delivered or MIA. Yes meeting with SS is good. Also call state manager. I will pm his name. Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 55Mar 22, 2017 8:23 am Hi trimum, any good news from your SS? I went to the oran park displays over the weekend. wow can't believe Oran Park has developed into what it is today! I went to school just on the other side of the Northern Rd - and haven't been back in the area since the days Oran Park was just a race track. I also noticed a street named Holden Drive. What if you were a Nissan or Ford fan.. LOL I reckon the area is looking great. I liked the layout, your own supermarket, the little parks and walk/running tracks by the water Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 56Mar 22, 2017 7:01 pm Uchiha Hi trimum, any good news from your SS? I liked the layout, your own supermarket, the little parks and walk/running tracks by the water Yes I'm really coming round to the area, we moved into our rental a year ago and I hated living here but now I'm feeling really settled, I and hubby work in the CBD but the commute works well for us and the kids are doing well. Many of the streets are named after names of cars or famous drivers!! Not sure if there is a Ford street though We heard from our SS yesterday who confirmed there was no progress but was hoping to have a carpenter lined up 'soon' we told him that wasn't good enough and asked for the delays to be escalated to Burbank, hubby was called today by someone more senior. Basically there is not much they or we can do, the huge amount of rain has knocked everyone's timelines out and our delays are being caused by other builds' delays. I get it so I guess we have to be patient but have asked for them to come up with a 'plan c'. Yesterday we went for our electrical and tile appointments. We queried our air conditioner unit and number of zones as what Burbank had on the electricians contract and what was on our Sekisui contract was slightly different. Burbank confirmed they had got it wrong and will ensure we get as per our original Sekisui contract or better. So that's a win. Our infinity choices had upgraded switches and more aircon zones and a 3 phase air conditioner (whatever that means). Hope there's no more rain now though, apparently next week is meant to be much better. I sure hope so!! Our Acacia build - viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-slab stage 57Mar 25, 2017 7:54 am We heard from our SS yesterday that we will have a carpenter next Thursday, am cautiously optimistic it may happen as we have drier days next week so I think the carpenter will be able to finish his current job. Trouble is my forecast app says rain is due next Thursday for us Also heard back from electrician contractors who told us all our upgraded light switches had been agreed to and we will get a 20w aircon unit. Will have to check the brochure they gave us to make sure this is the one we were expecting. So cautiously positive about next week at the moment for what should be lucky week 12 frames!
