We were updated by our SS yesterday, the plumber is coming next week to do some connections, bricks are being delivered next week and he is going to find a brickie team to start. Not sure when that will happen but hopefully not too long! Feeling much better about things now

One thing that was a thought when the plans were drawn up and I ignored has come back to bite me....
The first floor front of house has 6 windows across. The top two on the left should sit vertically to the ground floor two windows directly below. One of them (far left first floor is not directly aligned to the one below and it looks odd. I assumed (incorrectly) this would be put right when it was built. Ah well hopefully I will just learn to live with it.
This is what happens when there is too much time between tender and build start...I think I'm getting a bit obsessed with details

Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619

You will learn turn live with it. Yes the details matter... The Work Order plans are super important. And unfortunately can change from your final version you think you have obsessed over. I know we thought it was ok and the plans were changed so now we have a 1 hole tap rather than the 3 we requested for the bathrooms. No major issue but it wasn't the look we were after.

Your Landscaping can help disguise the non alignment ☺. Try the beer too. You never know!

This is the offset top window, I can't see how they would be able to move it now with the trusses on top. Ah well I will just get over it and move on. In other news we met our neighbour on the right hand side and we talked fencing, we have got an invoice with the fence at the back who only want $595 from us!!!!! Our side neighbour will use the same colour fence (colourbond woodland grey the same as our windows) so we are really happy about that. We have asked for them to put two rows of sleepers as our land is a bit higher than theirs and will ask our neighbours at the back to do the same, there is only one row in the invoice. So very happy with the outcome of the fencing so far!

Nice the fencing is working out!! We have to have 1.95m timber lap n cap fencing.. one side was $960... for about 28m.. pretty average job.. the other side through a different company was $595.. and the back is only $300!!

That sounds really good, I hope the fencers do a good job, I was wondering if there may need to be a retaining wall on the side and back but happy for sleepers. For some reason I was expecting the fencing to be several thousand dollars so am really happy that is not so! Big relief
the left side for our corner plot we need to pay for and we need to have timber too or build a short brick wall (we can't use colorbond for fencing you can see from the road).

Yeah, I love when things come in UNDER cost XD
Hubby spoke to the SS today to tell him the slider doors were on the wrong way and needed changing over. He then asked if we could have some more timber noggins put in the laundry and rumpus room. The SS told him flat out NO and that wasn't something they did anymore. Sounds like he was ** off because I know for a fact the carpenters do put in extra ones. Problem is we have no idea how to contact the carpenter....

Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619
we just got told no to noggings too. they've backflipped

Did they say when they will swap around your stacker doors?
Could you do your own noggins? Usually they just use scrap pieces of timber from the site and at them in anyway!

That's exactly what I said to hubby, he isn't keen to do it so it looks like I will have to! ( I'm the one with better diy skills anyway!)

No not yet I went to the site yesterday and nothing had changed

Trimum and ehhc are your carpenters still working on site? May be you can ask carpenters for noggings and paid $50 - $100 directly to carpenters or a case of nice beer.

I know it is difficult to be on site for both of you but better if you can talk to carpenters directly

BTW have they delivered bricks?

I WFH usually, and am only 10 mins away. Decided noggings weren't important for us, but the ceiling support for light is. Major pain to get into ceiling post handover. My carpenters are but just don't want to p*ss our SS off anymore lol
Unfortunately I'm not around during the day to check on the tradies so I never get to see them apart from a couple of weeks ago when I was driving past after a dentist appt! The carpenters look finished up, by Wednesday evening nothing more had been done and the stacker doors were still in the wrong position, no plumbing or bricks. I'm going to check it out today but I assume nothing has happened this week as we have had no call from SS and I don't see where they can leave the bricks with a huge full skip in front of the house. Frustrating but learning to go with it all, not much we can do!

At our electrical appointment with Vaccaro we were asked about what pendant lights and ceiling fans we were planning and identified all the rooms where these were going and paid for extra ceiling noggins at $30 each, I'm really glad we did now! I think we have got 7-8 of them

Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619
That's interesting. We were asked about ceiling pendants too, vaccaro was told about the island bench light but I wasn't sure of the exact dimensions at the time, so the light point location is TBC at rough in. Hope they can do a couple of small supports or noggings for me at that stage. Ive seen the roof truss locations now and a extra support is def needed.

Are they fitting your pendant lights?

No we are buying and fitting all our pendant lights and ceiling fans after handover. I'm a bit fussy so I want to spend some time choosing it all! They are just fitting all the downlights only

Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619
Yeah same!
Just hope they can still adjust light point and add the support. They made a point about if we engage them after handover, they are not willing to go into ceiling and fish out a light point cos one of their workers fell through the plasterboard :/
They rather do a batten holder...
I drove by today coming back from sons footy match, we have plumbing and we have bricks! The skip is also gone and the laundry sliding door has been delivered but not in yet and the stacking doors still haven't been changed over. So wins and draws this week. Also a ladder has been left to go up to the first floor, was so tempted to go up and look but had the kids and the dog still in the car getting impatient so will leave that for another day!

This is soooo exciting trimum.
How lovely to see different colours of pipes and bricks.
And you had your frames started after me. I can not wait to see all plumbing pipes at my site.
