Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-frame stage finally! 101Apr 08, 2017 9:52 pm Yes my current dinning table will be way too small (and too old) in the new house. Have you started to look around for furniture? Every time I see something on special....I have to walk away as I don't have any place to put it away and way too early to ask seller to hold on in their warehouse. I think will be best to buy furniture after move in ( for me ) Build Thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81624 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-frame stage finally! 102Apr 09, 2017 5:59 am We are renting a good sized house so would have room to store new stuff it's just I haven't worked out style/colours yet so think I will get us moved in first. Also we have quite a bit to sort out before we change furniture - carpets, blinds, fencing and landscaping and a few lights. I know I'm going to want it all changed but on the other hand if I fall in love with a bargain in the next few months I'm getting it!! I can't remember how many squares it is now. Will have to check. Got some quotes on blinds which seemed very cheap $2800 for 6 but researching more I found out these were just pvc and I want wooden ones preferably western red cedar ones as these are the most suitable and healthier. May have to wait for those though. For some reason I always thought it was 32sq even though I've walked through the show home several times. Wow. I really liked clints balcony, I would have loved a balcony but we would only get a view of other houses and I am sure we would never use it so we took this off our plans and spent money elsewhere. I still can't help having balcony envy though!!! Looking forward to the photos Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-frame stage finally! 113Apr 14, 2017 9:41 am Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Looking like a house now! All frames are complete and most of the windows are now in, just missing the laundry sliding door and one window. They have the stacker doors the wrong way round so they will have to swap them over but the plans are clear and they have put them in incorrectly. We were updated by our SS yesterday, the plumber is coming next week to do some connections, bricks are being delivered next week and he is going to find a brickie team to start. Not sure when that will happen but hopefully not too long! Feeling much better about things now Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-frame stage finally! 114Apr 14, 2017 9:42 am Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ These are the stacker doors that need swapping over, they should stack the other way towards the outer walls rather than in on themselves. I really wanted bi-folds all around but was too expensive so that was a compromise and I'm going to make sure they do it right! It won't be a problem for them to swap over the stacking doors. I too wanted bifolds or doors that would tuck into the wall... But went with the stacking doors. The good news is that they are better insulation wise 😃 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-frame stage finally! 119Apr 14, 2017 1:19 pm One thing that was a thought when the plans were drawn up and I ignored has come back to bite me.... The first floor front of house has 6 windows across. The top two on the left should sit vertically to the ground floor two windows directly below. One of them (far left first floor is not directly aligned to the one below and it looks odd. I assumed (incorrectly) this would be put right when it was built. Ah well hopefully I will just learn to live with it. This is what happens when there is too much time between tender and build start...I think I'm getting a bit obsessed with details Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-frame stage finally! 120Apr 14, 2017 5:14 pm Wow with the roof trusses it really does start looking like the plans now... you got the other window positions changed, when they got the placement wrong.
