We hate complaining and all we wanted was an honest weekly update, we have told them several times we understand if there are delays due to non availability of tradies but please just keep us informed. They have always agreed to this but never keep to it. I'm just going to seriously dial down my expectations and back off it's really not worth the stress I'm feeling. We won't be in for Christmas so will aim for Easter. We should be in then. My slab was poured 9 December, and with very generous counting, yesterday was the end of my 30 week build time. Still not at lockup. Build quality is good, but it is soooooo slow. Knowing that there is someone else in the same position is helping me a bit, so I hope I can do the same for you! Variegated Variegated Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 344Aug 05, 2017 2:22 pm I'm feeling same. No update from SS for last week. Brickies said they will finished by this weekend but still so many little things to do. Lucky we are not getting continuous rain. I still have a pool of rainwater from last week. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624 Fingers crossed you will be ok with tradies he did say it was specifically south west Sydney and you are closer to the city. I know what you mean about the rain I just dread it each time knowing the frames are going to be soaking again and the slab flooded. I think you are right to take a step back, the stress can get overwhelming and you need to put yourself first. I really hope they sort their tradies out soon and you can enjoy some progress 🤞 - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 347Aug 06, 2017 3:27 pm I think the only way to stay sane is to lower the expectations. I've had to do that, we moved out in May last year and demolished in June, so even though we are close to the end, I am still not getting excited, because I've been let down so many times already with delays!! It's one of those things like having children.....mostly out of your control so best not let it get you down! (Which of course is easier said than done, particularly when you are paying rent, and each week that goes on is another several hundred dollars.........grrrr....) Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 348Aug 12, 2017 2:14 pm I'm certainly feeling much better for taking a step back although I asked hubby to send a text yesterday to the SS for a weekly update. SS replied late last night, apparently the painters were there last Friday afternoon and completed over the weekend, there are other jobs scheduled. So here's where I don't understand....there is no action at all so we ask what's happening and for some update and we get told 'no tradies' 'we are trying so hard' etc etc. We did this with the roof and the roofers appeared by magic that day, last Friday we were told no painters at all, nowhere, then suddenly they start that afternoon. Can't help thinking Burbank have put our build into the 'too hard basket'. I don't want to winge at them to get things done but it seems that is the only way! Anyhow We are going to leave them to it, it was getting way to stressful and I don't like conflict!! " in 6months time I'll be cursing at myself cleaning damn big house ". Do I look forward for that time to come.... it is "yes". Only than I will be able to find everythings atm everything is in the garage. It seems that everyone else's build just goes so fast yet there are so many of us just left behind? Are we being too nice? Like you we try not to whinge but nothing gets done. It's only when you turn narky that they pull their finger out. Such a frustrating process. Your house will be stunning, love the plan and the Burbanks I've seen are quite lovely. Fingers crossed they will get a wriggle on. Hope they really are doing what they can for you... so does that mean scaffolding will come down and lower roof next? Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 352Aug 12, 2017 6:38 pm ehhc It'll be in their best interest to keep moving... the next 2 invoices are the big ones. Hope they really are doing what they can for you... so does that mean scaffolding will come down and lower roof next? They have a few more things to do this week and next week on the upper level can't remember what but some sort of flashing I think. The scaffolding has been booked to be removed 28/29 August, it will take 2 days. We are a long way from the prelinings invoice they still need to do the alfresco, garage and rumpus roof and then we will get the 'we can't get a roofer' 'we can't get a painter' shenanigans again! We have decided to get a cleaner I know we won't be up to keeping it clean!! We still have unopened boxes in our garage from when we emigrated from England 5 years ago. Goodness knows what's in them but I'm looking forward to finally unpacking them all! Thanks corallake I get my hubby to be narky but he hates doing it too so think we will just suck it up from now on and deal with the delays as long as we get a weekly update. One day these build processes will be just a bad memory!! Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 356Aug 27, 2017 3:20 pm Well I've stuck to my word and not been back to the site since our 'words' with the SS about the painter, have been relying on scarce updates with the SS and to be honest having removed myself from the stress a little I've certainly been coping better! So from what the SS has told us... in the last three weeks the first floor caulking has been done and cover angles fitted to the first floor windows. The brick pillar still has not yet been corrected 12 weeks on.
