Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 361Sep 15, 2017 6:05 pm Hi everyone well an update for week for the end of week 36 yes that's right 36!! Still waiting for the roof to be completed, we have been waiting for 3 weeks and have listened to every excuse they have the latest is the wind and they have no idea when it will be completed as now the roofers are behind on all their other jobs. We seem to have aircon and electrical rough in SS is on Holiday for 4 weeks and the SS covering told hubby to 'butt out' when he just asked for an update last week as we hadn't had one for two weeks Fed up with waiting we got our independent building inspector to do our pre linings inspection today and he will go back to do the first floor bits of the roof when it's done. Hubby and I listened to the voicemail he left and the tone of his voice told us to expect a 'big report' that would not be very good and to phone him Monday so he could talk through it. I wish this nightmare would go away Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 362Sep 15, 2017 6:34 pm Oh what the hell...how rude of that temp SS. That's unheard of... how can all our SS be so different. They really need to have a standard across the board. Hope your conversation with Daniel goes well. You never know... I found that he was super thorough so his report was pumped up a little. Also, 90% of our findings have either been fixed or committed to be fixed. So stay positive knowing the AM is reasonable and a good bloke as you already know. Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 363Sep 15, 2017 6:38 pm Wow, that's really disappointing. I don't think it's too much to ask for a 5 minute phone call once a week for an update! Geez.... I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that the report and resulting list is manageable. Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 364Sep 15, 2017 8:03 pm ehhc Oh what the hell...how rude of that temp SS. That's unheard of... how can all our SS be so different. Daniel said he will email the report on Sunday, we are looking forward to reading it!! Well I mean I would rather know if anything is wrong but hoping it's not impossible to fix and I don't want to fight with Burbank over anything I am just exhausted by their behaviour already and I don't want to put the stress on hubby to sort as I think he nearing his limit with them!! Agreed with Joneses ... don't get too overwhelmed with the list, tackle down one problem at a time. Wishing you very good vibes. Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 369Sep 16, 2017 2:31 pm :/ FFS... Is it possible the feature screening is timber wrapped around the steel posts? Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 370Sep 16, 2017 4:02 pm ehhc :/ FFS... Is it possible the feature screening is timber wrapped around the steel posts? That was my first thought but the size of the steel posts appear much larger than the screen timber posts were going to be... It's heartbreaking and unbelievable to think that you are at 36 weeks . And the attitude of your fill in SS stinks! https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 372Sep 17, 2017 5:58 am bank So sorry to hear things haven't progressed. It's heartbreaking and unbelievable to think that you are at 36 weeks . And the attitude of your fill in SS stinks! https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Thanks Bank, hubby and I are just so tired of Burbanks overall attitude this relief SS and his comments just seemed normal for the company now. So today we get the report for our inspector and tomorrow we need to ask Burbank about the steel posts in the rumpus room. Not particularly looking forward to either and the **** fights these will probably turn into. We just feel Burbank is turning us both into something we are not...and we have to fight our corner so hard with them, our normal SS is a nice guy but not a very good project manager and has no attention to detail, our CSO is just out and out rude to us. It has helped me hugely stepping out of the stress of visiting the site and not thinking about it 24/7 but yesterday seeing the mistakes I felt it all come back to me. Just also worried about omissions to the electrical points too and wondered if this had been finished or if this is only part of the electrical rough in that has been done....difficult to ask or to check when we are not meant to be on the site! Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Sadly I can relate on all points . Ours hasn't been nearly as slow as yours but we have had mistakes and problems with everything (except bricks) so constantly feel we are fighting to have things made right. We have just moved to our 4th SS (he is very green unfortunately), he probably hasn't seen the real us, I feel like I should defend myself, we weren't this difficult at the start but constant sh!t fights changes a person . Also totally get not being able to mention what you have seen that you can't have seen, its enormously frustrating! There has been so many times that I could have saved them hassle if I could have told them earlier. I hope your report brings what you want today and it lights a fire under Burbank 🤞 https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 374Sep 17, 2017 8:18 pm Sending good vibes for tomorrow and hope meeting with Burbank works out in your favour. Can't believe the way you have been treated but I can relate to how you must be feeling. Going through the same thing.. Keep strong. Looking forward to some positive news and pics. Need to have a proper read through then work out how we present this to Burbank. Post your questions here if you need to ask... the advice you guys gave when I got my report was very helpful. I also posted the tolerance guide to shazza's thread if you don't already have it. Hmm I also have the BCA (NCC volume 2) document if you want me to email it to you **edited typos** Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 379Sep 18, 2017 7:28 pm Thanks so much! Ok here are the ones that leap out at me - GArage: steel post to rear wall of garage has steel packers installed below the post which is impeding adequate fixing of the post to the concrete slab as required. Surface rust is also visible. Family room- there is no steel lintel bar installed between brickwork and steel above Family room. It is recommended you seek certification from engineer regarding this. Exterior- control joints (articulation joints) not installed to full height of masonry wall to elevation D as required as per Australian standards. (The photo of this shows shocking workmanship I can't believe I missed this) Exterior- control joints are not installed in accordance with constructions plans and exceed maximum spacing allowance in areas throughout. Hubby spoke to Daniel the inspector this evening, Daniel said he was 'dismayed' at the poor workmanship and gave some advice in going forward with Burbank to get it all resolved. **** fight about to start again...
