I think it will look great with rendering and timber stain elements. What mortar joint have you selected? Flush, ironed raked? Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-frame stage finally! 282Jun 18, 2017 9:06 am We chose ironed mortar joint I think but I wasn't really bothered it's not really anything anyone will notice, well not something I would notice and hubby wouldn't either Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home-frame stage finally! 283Jun 18, 2017 9:10 am And I'm SO pleased we were persuaded by Kara a few weeks ago to stick with the timber effect garage door rather than a lighter shade of grey, that will break it up too. Our facade was to have the frontage all bag painted but I didn't like the effect, I like render but would have been too costly for that amount of front. I also really liked the heritage facade that Shazaw is having but we decided to save money and go with a cheaper option and upgrade more inside. It's definitely not going to be the most attractive facade you will ever see but hopefully some clever landscaping over the next couple of years will help. That's too funny will tell my hubby we are going to nickname it HMAS Oran Park, he will love it he spent a lot of years in the British military. Lol - got us thinking about it so much, it felt so important at the time but I don't care anymore. We chose ironed too... Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 289Jun 20, 2017 11:22 pm SS got back to us regarding the red brick pillar, said he would be checking the plans and putting it right, whatever that is! Render or rebricking it. Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 290Jun 21, 2017 9:24 am What would you prefer, rebrick or render? Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 291Jun 21, 2017 11:13 am You know what I don't know what I prefer....it may look a bit odd having a lonely rendered pillar so for once I'm happy for Burbank to decide this one! I really am 50:50 either way on it. Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 292Jun 21, 2017 1:43 pm trimum You know what I don't know what I prefer....it may look a bit odd having a lonely rendered pillar so for once I'm happy for Burbank to decide this one! I really am 50:50 either way on it. Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Went back to your plans on p1, and I see what you mean now. That brick pillar is shorter and not as deep as the corner feature. I'd be happy with either rebrick or render. As long as they don't leave it as is lol Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 293Jun 23, 2017 1:32 pm Well our update from the SS went like this today. Bricks were cleaned yesterday Brickie is coming back either tomorrow or early next week to rebuild the garage pillar with the grey bricks then cleaned Renders of the side pillars should happen sometime next week Once done the scaffolding heights will change Bad news: Roof is still 2-3 weeks away from going on Fascias and guttering still being manufactured and will go up first Can't help but feel dejected today. 2-3 weeks more to wait for the roof is unbelievable!! And why is the fascias and guttering just been manufactured now!! Week 23 now completed and nowhere near lockup. Our Acacia build - http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=86619 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 294Jun 23, 2017 4:40 pm Oh no trimum. That sucks... definitely a valid point you make. It's not like scaffolding and bricking was magically done early. They were delayed so should of seen gutters and fascias coming. Well it still looks like you have work lined up for next 2-3 weeks. Shouldn't be long, just feels long Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 295Jun 24, 2017 11:11 am Does anyone know what this hole would be for? It's in the master bedroom, behind this hole is the alfresco pitched roof. You can't really see the hole from the outside due to the alfresco roof framework. It does look like this is meant to be there due to the frame around the hole but nothing is on our plans about it. I'm not sure if I got one. I'm going now to check out. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624 Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 298Jun 26, 2017 5:18 pm Yes, we have one in the room that is above the outside alfresco area. Once the plasterboard goes up you won't be able to see it. I'd say it's there in case of emergency for Alfresco roof access, so you'd have to cut a hole in your plasterboard, but not through a brick wall! Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 299Jun 27, 2017 9:42 am Looked at our plans last night, and ours is on there. So even though they put plasterboard over it, my husband reckons they will make it into a proper manhole. Of course you never notice it in the display home because they cover it with furniture! Thanks yes our SS confirmed it was for the alfresco roof access and it will have a proper hatch door so will just need to buy some furniture to hide it!
