Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Acacia Home 802May 23, 2018 7:17 am Haha maybe. It looks alright from here... they still need to come back and cut control joints. Maybe ask them about sealer when they return. Should be itemised in the contract Re: Our Acacia Home 804May 23, 2018 10:10 am Our SS just called... He spoke with the concreter who admitted he missed the border and there is no way they can do it now. SS has offered for the concreter to do some earthworks and excavation for us in lieu of this (the border was $785). I think this is ok but have stressed we will only do this after speaking to concreter so we know exactly what he will do and we can have the decision as to what is done. We meet with the concreter guy after PCI to talk about it. He confirmed the expansion joint will be out in for the driveway and sealing has been done (I don’t think it has) and he will get a solution for the colour bleeding. I think this is really poor but I’m no expert on driveways, I follow a few local concreters on Facebook and have seen photos of several driveways laid that look far neater than this. I’m not sure if it will be sealed or cleaned or if this is it, this was taken 24 hours after pouring. Sorry to say this ... yes it does look a bit messy. And I can't say much about my site as its also very untidy with all soil and grass piled up on one side and left behind as concreter only taken broken concrete from footpath. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624 Re: Our Acacia Home 807May 25, 2018 6:28 am Good luck guys Take your time today, don’t let SS rush you. Re: Our Acacia Home 808May 25, 2018 7:53 am Thanks everyone we have our blue tape at the ready, tape measures, iphone charger to test all the plug sockets and lists of things I definitely want to check as we go round. We are going to run every tap to check for drainage and leaks, part fill the baths too, test the hot water system. Nothing will be left not expecting everything to work!! And then there will be that conversation about the driveway. Not expecting a resolution from the SS especially if we seek a refund/part refund. We have downloaded a guide of things to check at PCI from the internet that we paid $4 for I think we are ready now!!! Oh and we will also be taking our contract and variations with us. Hope SS has brought a chair with him it’s going to be a long day! Re: Our Acacia Home 809May 25, 2018 12:06 pm PCI is over will update later today. A couple of howlers that we found but overall very happy. The AM was there with the SS, I think they felt we would be ready to put up a fight over several items so SS wanted to have backup! Re: Our Acacia Home 810May 25, 2018 12:47 pm trimum PCI is over will update later today. A couple of howlers that we found but overall very happy. The AM was there with the SS, I think they felt we would be ready to put up a fight over several items so SS wanted to have backup! Very happy to know that your PCI went well. I'm so sorry that I just read you PM. I was out all morning to look for tiles for alfresco. I'm so sorry for late reply. looking forward for updates on PCI. Build Thread : viewtopic.php?=31&t=81624 Re: Our Acacia Home 811May 25, 2018 4:31 pm So We has PCI today, it was scheduled for 9am and went until 12pm. When we turned up the AM was also there, he said he was there as it had been a ‘difficult build’ and to provide any further information we might have. We were surprised at this but pleased as we went straight into the problems with the driveway. SS and AM acknowledged it was not as per requested and said we would have a refund of the border. As far as the rest of it AM wanted to wait for 28 days for it to settle but we said we wanted the problems to be rectified immediately, they have agreed to get the concreters back to rectify it and we will take it from there. For the rest of the PCI it went fairly well overall a few minor things need fixing which we identified with blue tape and logged with the SS. We went round every sink, shower and bath turning the water, filling sinks and baths and letting them drain then checking for leaks.... we found one in the main bathroom, the bath leaked into the laundry!! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Then the kitchen, the gas hob was working but we could not get the oven to turn on at all although the oven light was on! Then when we pulled the oven tray out we found this 🤢 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ SS apologised and admitted it was disgusting. Maybe a tradie cooked his/her lunch?? So that’s the second big fix. We talked about the microwave, SS said that the microwave we had been given had been discontinued so we have another one with trim kit on order. Was pleased to hear that! They have had the certifier round who has asked for two things to be done- electrical sticker to be placed in the electrical box and somethings else minor. For handover to happen we have stressed we need a new invoice with the driveway refund and interim occupancy certificate from them in the next two weeks. Overall I feel it went pretty well we have about 33 minor things to put right (paint marks etc), the aircon and gas hot water tank work as do all the lights and PowerPoints. The brickwork in places still sh1ts me at times but I have to live with that. Roll on 22nd June!!!!!!!!!! Our Acacia Home 813May 25, 2018 4:58 pm bank Great to hear that most of the issues are minor! I can't believe they still need so much time. Was the time set on the oven? I think we had something funny like that with our ovens. Only the light worked until they were set. Yes we have given them more than enough time as we don’t want to postpone things or rebook. We have told SS that we will be homeless in 4 weeks so there is no possibility of moving that date! We could not get the oven to turn in at all there was no timer or clock working either. We got out the instructions and read through but still couldn’t get anything to work ah well glad we have found this out now. Re: Our Acacia Home 814May 25, 2018 6:38 pm You have to hold 2 buttons down at the same time for 5sec. Then you can set the time... we had the same issue. It’s under “what to do after outage or first use”. Hehe they gave us the newer microwave mode with grill function. Maybe you’ll get the steamer version What was the sticker on meter box? We only have termite control sticker. Glad you stuck to your guns for driveway fix! And we’ll down testing the taps, we didn’t and Just risked it Re: Our Acacia Home 815May 25, 2018 6:55 pm ehhc You have to hold 2 buttons down at the same time for 5sec. And we’ll down testing the taps, we didn’t and Just risked it Oh that’s interesting about the oven!! We should have tried that and read through the instructions a bit more! Our issue was that there was nothing coming on at all, the timer display was blank. Yes sorry it was the termite sticker on the meter box that was missing and then the other thing was something about one of the recessed pocket doors which needed something to pull it shut. Both have been done and SS said he just needed to send photos of the corrections to the certifier. I was so reluctant to turn all the taps on as the baths and showers were so clean and I didn’t want water marks on everything! So glad we did though. Because our baths have tiled sides, they have put vents in the ceiling directly below the bath drain in the case of leaks (like we had today) they just need to unscrew the vent and they have access rather than taking off all the bath tiles to get to the plumbing. So worth doing after today’s problems! We noticed early on we had no hot water despite SS saying he had turned the heater on. We went outside with the instructions and worked out how to turn it on properly! Voila ...hot water!! Re: Our Acacia Home 816May 25, 2018 8:34 pm Ohh nah our display had a incorrect time so it was lit up. It just has to have a tiny icon indicating it’s ready to use and setting the time fixed that. What a lucky find with the plumbing. Still amazes me that there are vents for easy access. What did your SS say about June 22? Is he on board with getting everything sorted before then? What did your SS say about June 22? Is he on board with getting everything sorted before then? Yes both SS and AM agreed we would be ok for 22nd June to be honest we could have moved in today the leak is likely just a loose connection that needs tightening and we can cook with a stove top, we left SS who was going to try and fix it today. The AM didn’t stay too long in the end, he agreed we could do carpets and blinds and internet before handover. Oh and I also told him if we didn’t get a move in present from Burbank I would be very disappointed!! They both promised us one and the AM also said he needed a photo of us with the SS on handover day getting the keys. Not sure if this is to throw darts at...... Re: Our Acacia Home 818May 26, 2018 7:50 am Haha darts board. The AM can be very understanding hey. I reckon he’s got a soft spot for the owners and he still manages to balance owners SS and company’s needs. So glad you guys shared info about him ages ago... thank you Re: Our Acacia Home 819May 29, 2018 7:00 pm Went up to the site to meet an landscaper who will do a quote for earthworks, concrete path and retaining wall. Noticed the fence has gone and the portaloo is gone!!! After a long 18 months that stinking loo is no more! We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds. That’s why we… 5 16262 of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them.
