Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 421Oct 21, 2017 12:34 pm I called to my SS for updates once a week now, no point in waiting till end of week for him to call me. I do get frustrated if I get no calls from SS. Do you know how they will solve your brick issues? Our builder did a cut on our bricks close to handover as they forgot to put an articulation joint. Had a bit of argument with the builder but to no avail. I even asked qbcc only to be told that it is an acceptable practice. I just resigned. I was tired of dealing with them already. But mind you, our neighbor who built with them threw a tantrum and made some threaths as their brickwork was also bad, got a free render. The whole house. I wish i am like them. Its just not me... Good luck on your build. Building Simonds Prague Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 423Oct 25, 2017 7:12 pm Horse Just catching up on your thread. Building Simonds Prague I think they are going to cut a line down the bricks but not sure when that will happen or if it already has I keep forgetting to check as it is on the side of the house. There are a few other brick issues and I probably need to speak to our SS as he was in holiday when the inspection was done and I’m not sure how much info was passed on to him! Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 424Oct 28, 2017 5:43 am Our landlord has asked us to sign our lease until the end of Feb so had to get an updated timeline of completion from Burbank....was told this would be around end of Feb/beginning of March. That will take us to week 60 out of a 40 week build. I reckon it will go well into April personally. Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 425Oct 28, 2017 1:39 pm It's really upsetting... I don't even know what week we are up to.... Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 427Oct 28, 2017 2:19 pm bank Geez your timeline is just ridiculous! I don't know how you are coping . Thanks Bank to be honest I am not coping very well. The stress is having huge consequences on my life, I’ve got raised blood pressure which I’ve never suffered from ever before in my life and it’s having a significantly detrimental effect on my marriage. I truly hope you get some decent, consistent, progress. I know I feel a lot better when there is at least some forward movement. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 430Oct 29, 2017 5:44 am That’s so true! I feel better when I see significant progress unfortunately that hasn’t happened much. I was looking at the times of when the main jobs happened last night to see if I was over reacting with the delays but I don’t think I am at all... Week 1 ground levelled Week 3 - slab Week 13 - frames complete Week 22 - bricks complete Week 37 - all roof areas complete Week 41 - gyprock complete One thing that really upsets me (almost more than the delays) is the poor attention to detail, I actually don’t think the SS ever goes up to check the house. Last weekend I went up and noticed lots of insulation batts missing on the upper floor ceiling and there were none on the ceiling between the ground and first floor. We paid extra to have these ones. The gyprock started on Monday so these can’t have been done. I don’t know what to do about these issues, the SS won’t know if these were done as he is never there! Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 431Oct 29, 2017 9:18 am We built with Sekisui/Burbank and have over 7 pages of defects still outstanding handover was 16/12/16. I know its hard but do something about it now because they blame each other and nothing gets done. Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 432Oct 29, 2017 9:37 am :/ absolutely hearing you about added stress levels. Upper floor can be done at any time. They chucked ours up in bags but didn't spread them out - I think it's got to be done after downlights anyway. Do you have photos to prove batts not installed between ground and first floor? Sorry I don't know how these can be checked... maybe when they cut openings for lights and aircon vents? Re: Sekisui / Burbank -our Acacia home- Bricks Complete! 433Oct 29, 2017 9:59 am You can get it inspected with a thermal imaging camera. Some building inspectors have them. Lack of supervision has been a big problem on our build as well, latest guy seems to be a bit better, but we also had issues of poor insulation not being fixed prior to plaster. We have provided them with photos and they claim it will be fixed, not an easy job though, as we have a 10 degree roof pitch. They say they will provide photos of it fixed however if I'm not satisfied I will get our inspector in with his camera. Madingly I didn’t take pics last weekend other than one to show they had actually insulated the walls between bed 1 and 2 like they promised as an ‘extra’ for us and I was really appreciative. But I noticed the batts were not installed between ground and first floor and so wish I had taken a pic! We were the same while building... so stressful .. living with my husbands parents.. very VERY draining on our marriage. Im happy to report if you can just push through that bit longer.. it gets so much better again.
