Did you have any regrets with this build or are you regret free have built several times before? There’s not a lot really. Pretty much happy with most things. Only think I would have done was put hebel flooring, bigger windows downstairs, bulk heads in the study, and windows upstairs facing the back. But it’s not bad considering we have over 200 variations. I blame my consultant about the bigger windows lol. She wanted to save us money. She was trying to stop me from over spending . Which I did anyway spend heaps more once we went to colour selections. I think no matter how many times you build. You will still end up regretting not putting some Things in. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 1206May 10, 2018 6:36 am Our consultants mentioned lifting windows as we have increased ceiling height instead of making them taller. I wanted 3 meters but they said we couldn’t cos of how the house was sitting on the land. Remember I told you. It didn’t make sense. But I didn’t argue it cos it wasn’t a major thing for me. I should have just gone with my gut and increased the windows. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 1209May 10, 2018 8:40 am We got nothing for free from them at colour selections. Except when we started building. From their mistakes we got things without paying extra. And it was thousands of dollars. Plus our ss through quiet a few things in. He was amazing. I just can’t believe how easy we had it with him. They rang me up yesterday for feedback. I gave him a 9.5. They ask me why. I said his whole attitude. Never gave us headaches. Did you get all windows increased for free? We have 2550 ceilings and are looking at asking to have the living/rumpus/study windows increased from 1500mm drop to 1800mm drop, so they come closer to floor (not necessarily raising them up with the ceiling). I am assuming there is a charge for this, but should I be pushing this for free? Our ceilings will be 2700 downstairs and 2550 upstairs. There are also separate items elsewhere in the estimate to increase the doors and wardrobe heights to match the increased ceiling heights, and the garage door height also. With regard to the increased window heights, I guess 'free' means, included in the upgraded ceiling cost: Upgrade downstairs ceiling to 2700 ILO 2550 (216 m2) = $3,888 Upgrade upstairs ceiling to 2550 ILO 2400 (208 m2) = $3,120 Garage entry and door height increase = $95 Re: New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 1215May 10, 2018 1:51 pm Thanks Renman, thats interesting, as the notes in our quote say windows will remain as standard: Ceiling Height - 2550 ilo 2400 - Ground Floor Provide 2550mm ceiling height in lieu of 2400mm to ground floor of a double storey. Note: Window and external door sizes remain as standard. Standard infills above and/or window head heights to be adjusted to suit (refer plans). Internal door heights to remain as standard. Subject to maximum wall heights and scaffolding regulations. This item and price is based on the standard home and does not allow for variations that may be displayed. If the standard home is altered in any way the price will be amended (where required). If any additional items are required to be added to the home to comply with the energy efficient compliant rating, a variation will be raised and priced accordingly. 225m2 $3,600.00 Ceiling Height - 2550 ilo 2400 - First Floor Provide 2550mm ceiling height in lieu of 2400mm to first floor of double storey. Note: Window and external door sizes remain as standard. Standard infills above and/or window head heights to be adjusted to suit (refer plans). Internal door heights to remain as standard. 146m2 $2,190.00 I wonder why our windows remain the same????
