So I always make sure the prices are right. That's why also our contract took 8 hours instead of 3. We went through things throughly with them. My consultant told me they told me you took 8 hours for the contract. She was all for going through things throughly. But she knew me. I even memories the code of things. Knew what suppose to go where. I was given a different price for things that was differed price from selections. I told them this is suppose to be this much not that much. They investigated. And said the price I said to be right. I just put all the prices of everything in my head. I just memorise it all. Thank goodness cos it payed off. My husband just stood back and basically relaxed the whole time. But I can tell you. I reckon we have been Metricon biggest headache. Even my consultant said i can't wait till this is all over. And it would be like a dream to finally see it being built. As we have had so much hassles. But me and hubby have always done things tough. We have 11 kids. And he runs a business. When we tried to bypass pc. My consultant told them. These are not normal people lol. They know what they want and what they are doing. Hubby was leading the electrical consultant. And corrected him. I will just give you this advice. If the prices are different query it. Don't let it go. Be firm if they are not doing what you request. Don't give up. Even if you do it now. If they mucked up. They need to fix it. So far I believe I have been my csc worse nightmare. Cos I don't let anything slide. And every time we have been firm and demanded something be changed due to their mistakes. I have to admit. They have done most of everything that we pushed. Re: New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 63Feb 21, 2017 5:47 pm In the case of our Qasair ranghood I don't have anything else or anyone else to compared with to know the actually price. Been charged almost double for the same item (before inclusion deduction) definitely feels like we are been played. Been charged almost double for the same item (before inclusion deduction) definitely feels like we are been played. I wouldn't know. I just stuck with the smeg one. But here's what I did for something's. I searched it online for the item and price. To get a ball park figure. Then if its much more then the price they gave you. I wouldn't consider it being so high. But if it's a fair bit higher. Then query it. But also if you have any concerns. Email your csc. That's what he/she is there for. Don't ever feel bad for it either. Asked her to find the price out and get back too you. If they are wrong weather you signed contract or not. They need to fix it. Asked her to find the price out and get back too you. If they are wrong weather you signed contract or not. They need to fix it. Their excuse is that it's what the contractors will charge them. So I am trying to find other M home builder if they have a similar systems and find out their pricing. ? I am at the start of my journey with the Doulton 56 with the classique fascade (as the display home with the 50mm bricks and not fully rendered at the front). No significant changes structurally however apart from the downstairs guest suite changed to a lounge. I will keep looking at your thread for any ideas. Good Luck Oh I love that facade. Our Developers wouldn't allow it. Which is ridiculous. As they don't pay my mortgage. I love that theres someone else building the doulton. When does your start? Are you in Melbourne? Sounds nice. I love the 50mm bricks. Thats the only thing I didn't like about the Doulton is that it didn't have a lounge up the front. All the best with yours too. I would love to follow your progress. Doulton777 I am in Melbourne and planning a KDR. Start has been earmarked for July/August. Lets see! Re: New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 69Feb 21, 2017 5:59 pm Have you signed contracts? There is another way around it. If they are charging too much. And it's cheaper online with installation. What I would suggest is ask them if you can install your own after handover? I am only going with M to supply and install it because it's best to have it done when the cabinets are put together. Otherwise I would have it done post installation like my ovens and cook top. I totally understand that. In my butlers pantry I put a provision for a under bench oven. I didn't get it through them. As I want to take my oven from here. As it cost us a bit. And it's a cleaning one. It's a bosh. There was no way I was going to leave it at this house. I should mention it's a second oven that we installed in a cabinet. The other one is a falcon. It's too small. It has a built in pressure cooker. But we never used it. Cos we couldn't find pots that fitted in it. After awhile we gave up. I regret buying it as it cost us a fortune. It's was nearly $7000. And that's with a discount. Waste of money. Been charged almost double for the same item (before inclusion deduction) definitely feels like we are been played. I originally had the Qasair in my joinery quote but for some reason the consultant told me to go the Sirius SL 906 L EXCEL 850. It was probably because it was a better fit for my rangehood breast. That was $1999. With my Miele appliances Metricon just charged me full retail price. So whatever price was on the Miele store which I was fine with. I know you could get them on sale after handover but I didn't want the headache. Re: New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 75Feb 21, 2017 9:34 pm It was in my first revision of my joinery variation with price being TBC. It was replaced in subsequent variations so I never got to see the price. Re: New here we are building the Doulton 56 with extension 76Feb 21, 2017 9:38 pm That price guide would have been so handy. Pricing M-Studio was the hardest. It was like Russian roulette. I read through these forums to get a basic idea of price. Then included everything I wanted during appointment to get to know the price on the variation. It was only when I got to see the price on the variation that I made informed decision on what stays and what goes.
