Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 13, 2017 1:13 am Hey guys, we're at frame stage of a new build with a smaller local builder. We've just had a meeting onsite with the electrician. Now the problem is that one of the guys I work with was previously an employee of the same electrician and mentioned that he uses cheap Chinese switchboards and cables, and a quick google search shows up the same electrician was charged last year with carrying out unsafe installation, carrying out work that did not comply with the act and regulations, plus others. Obviously we do not want this guy touching our house. We've requested a meeting ASAP with the builder. Just wondering what our options might be? Thank you so much for reading. Re: Need urgent advice... 2Feb 13, 2017 7:11 am Well thought out discussion with your builder is always the first step. Don't make any accusations but just dispassionately point out the facts to the builder, and unless the electrician is his best mate, I'm sure he'll agree with you. Also, check your contract to see what it says about the builder's rights to choose subcontractors, and also about workmanship and warranty. I'm sure no builder wants to deliver you a ******* product. Re: Need urgent advice... 3Apr 22, 2017 8:56 am Ask your builder how long the electrician has worked for him, say why you have no confidence in the electrician and then discuss the builder's options.
