Hope Tori is settling in well and mum is recovering nicely. Great progress with your build too, so nice to see so much happening in your absence. Re: The epic home building race - BABY IS OUT, TIME TO ROUG 188Jun 05, 2017 10:32 pm Thanks again everyone for the support and following. Totally forgot for a bit, this thread was partly meant to be educational or insightful at times too. So went to have a chat to Dixon today. Very pleasant visit today. They went through a few things with me on site whilst the plumbers were there (Reece's). Our corner bath was going in and they wanted to confirm the placement of the spout and mixer... which with our bath, you would need to ensure that the spout will actually pour water into the tub. The solution for ours is to place the spout at the 3/4 length mark towards one of the deeper basins. Had to try to imagine where the arms might be to reach the mixer.. where the head might be to avoid hitting any fixtures... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Then we went to talk about the location of the fridge water tap... which initially could have been in the ceiling... but then you would potentially have to put the filter or valve in the ceiling... which would mean - if I understood correctly - that you would have climb into the ceiling or up to the ceiling to turn it off. Sounded impractical to me, so the alternative proposal was to place into the back of one of the drawers?? next to the fridge. Cons of this, might be loss of drawer space. So that might be our plan as it stands. Considering I think they may have also plumbed it all by the end of today... I don't think I can change it now! Might have to ponder on this one a bit. Ah... the details... Then lastly, we went through a little mistake in one of the doors. If you go back to my last photos, the alfresco doors are four panel double sliding doors. Yes, awesome and nice as you can see, but it was drawn as a six-panel stacker-type double doors on our house plans. A bit of a boo-boo by someone, somewhere. I think we would rather have the stackers over the 'simpler' slider type. Positively, and much appreciated, our Dixon guys were very receptive to this issue, and hopefully it will be fixed without trouble! Electrical appointment also set with our contracted electrician on Wednesday!! In other news, very cold days coming! Difficult to justify bringing out little "Tori" to show her the house. I'm sure she will love her first home in her own baby way. Don't tell my wife I still don't really like having the bath but that is a wife pick, so it stays. (she does read this thread...) Took 2 hours!! Not sure if this is normal or average. Lukie was at school, but bub Victoria slept through the whole thing - especially with circular saw grinding the water line in the kitchen nearby, and roofers planting more bolts into the roof. She was so cutely koala-pouched in wife's wrap though. Added a few more things, talked over with the electrician who seemed to be quite forward and honest and on the ball with guiding us with all the placements. I'm sure I may have drove him batty with my super-detail questions... Also mentioned to him the Smart LED bulb lighting system. Might have to have custom battens for these but he will look into it. Will upload a pic of the 'edited' plans a bit later. Otherwise the work site had lots of tradies around - carpenters, plumbers and roofers. Otherwise we also finalised (hopefully without any more 2nd guessing...) the viewing screen for the portal between the sewing room and the rumpus/play room. That way, wife can supervise the children whilst sewing... -we are having the portal 600mm tall and 1800mm wide, centred to the rumpus room. -it will also be installed starting from 1400mm from the floor -changed the pattern of the screen to tetris shapes and lines, rather than a "tortoise-shell" pattern. Wowza the house has made heaps of progress looks great Thanks! Need to catch up on your thread. Lol nothing exciting on our end this week so far! Re: The epic home building race - BABY IS OUT, TIME TO ROUG 196Jun 09, 2017 12:15 am Great progress Rural got to be wrapped with how it's all coming together . Did you sort out your water for the fridge? Another way is by making a niche for the tap so the fridge can sit flush without the tap getting in the way. Kind of like a niche in your shower wall but for the tap. Agree with BW the screening is very cool. Re: The epic home building race - BABY IS OUT, TIME TO ROUG 197Jun 09, 2017 2:51 pm Took hundreds of photos today with the good camera - not sure if it will ever be useful but thought would be good to have documentation of all the frames, internals and fixtures before it gets covered up?? Otherwise... lots of different tradies on site today - air con guys here! chippies still going as well. and brickies came to introduce themselves and set up shop!! also sparkies doing their bit. Tubs are in. Roof looks to be completely done (there were a few unfinished gutters from last week). Gyprock is waiting in the main garage. Brackets for the power points and switches being put in and wires. Plumbing looks done. ---Tribe, fridge tap-wise, I sat on it too long to really change it up, though your niche idea sounds like a good one. Here are some photos! - don't worry not all 200 of them from today... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ A view of our corner tub and the walk-in shower. Framing looks great Re: The epic home building race - BABY IS OUT, TIME TO ROUG 199Jun 10, 2017 10:39 pm Looking great Rural, those photos will help you so much when it comes time to hang photos etc as you know where the studs are. I've seen a few builds with water points in niches, I have no idea about ours beyond the fact there is one there. Miss Tori woken up from the newborn slumber yet? I find around day 6 the babies really fire up. You guys are going great with the build and babe . Re: The epic home building race - BABY IS OUT, TIME TO ROUG 200Jun 12, 2017 4:49 am Wow I have missed a fair bit. Super congrats on new Bub, love her name. Hope mum and bubs are now doing well after their rough start! House is coming along nicely, I love baths and that is a great size. Will be nice kicking back in there. That's a great idea between the sewing and rumpus. Can you give advice on how to get missing certificates needed for a form 21? Our bank requires us to provide one but we are missing 4 building certificates from our first… 3 56820 yes it does, you've just not understood it. theres a difference. 4 2776 Your house should come in "as new" condition.
