CONCRET 383Sep 16, 2017 10:16 pm So a Saturday evening update before we get to bed early for a two day trip to Gold Coast. Poor Tori is sick... her first significant illness though it's not so bad. With concrete hopefully laid down this week, and the top soil to be redistributed, we decided to clean up as much rubbish as possible before it all gets buried! Namely the stuff that could affect the soil quality, like cigarettes and plastic, to potential dangerous things like Colorbond roof shards and nails! Was hard work and Lukie got a deserved mcFlurry for his help. Felt really satisfying to tidy it all up. Still just shocked by all the dangerous stuff though... here's our handy work done....😋 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Follow our first house build here! -> https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86484 Re: The epic home building race - FLOORS&DOORS DONE! CONCRET 384Sep 16, 2017 10:59 pm Wow well done guys, that looks super neat and tidy! Good thinking too about cleaning up, you would wish the tradies just cleaned up after themselves though Re: The epic home building race - FLOORS&DOORS DONE! CONCRET 385Sep 17, 2017 2:24 pm Well done, that would have been hard work. At least you had nice clear weather for it. I love that you are paying in McFlurries Re: The epic home building race - FLOORS&DOORS DONE! CONCRET 387Sep 17, 2017 3:14 pm allblaqk Wow well done guys, that looks super neat and tidy! Good thinking too about cleaning up, you would wish the tradies just cleaned up after themselves though Thanks! Took a page out of dougang I think... so can't take all the credit. they vacuumed all the rubbish in the house before floors were laid. However we missed that part and decided we needed to dig up all the dangerous stuff outside instead! It melted quickly...😋 Follow our first house build here! -> https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86484 Re: The epic home building race - FLOORS&DOORS DONE! CONCRET 389Sep 17, 2017 3:17 pm aloenyx Wow good work. Wish you'd do mine..we keep digging up crap. Yeah I dread doing deep digging as we only raked the surface to clear the nails and what-not. Happy to come! Yours has less ground to deal with so it might be quicker than doing ours! Though by the time we coordinate a trip to Melbourne you will have finished your landscaping!😍 Follow our first house build here! -> https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86484 Re: The epic home building race - FLOORS&DOORS DONE! We are getting there, a big list of things to work through lol Re: The epic home building race - FLOORS&DOORS DONE! CONCRET 393Sep 18, 2017 11:15 pm Heya Rural, I hope the vinyl is more durable than laminate planks, we nearly killed our parador planks and what ever the planks are in our tiny rental are chipping like crazy Enjoy your trip to the coast, I'm going on Wednesday woo hoo so going to harbour town for some shopping. I need sticks for my leaves vase thing. Hehehehe cowboy GP that's funny, pillars of the community though, now being in a small community of our own I've had to go to the GP a few times and the difference in care is amazing, one of my boys is a anaphylactic and needs a new referral to the children's hospital for next months food challenge trial and I honestly couldn't believe how interested and kind the GP was. Country Dr are fab Well done on cleaning up your site too, we did that often and it paid off, my old Neighbour dug up a bucket full of grout in his front yard . Now mc flurry payments are awesome I'll come and help for sure, as you know we don't have any thing like that here so I'll need to cook up a batch of brownies or pay in frogs Re: The epic home building race - FLOORS&DOORS DONE! Great stuff, but also some drawbacks indeed! We are glad we have relatively easy access to the coast when it just gets 'too rural' at times. Regarding vinyl, we did some vinyl durability testing last weekend at the Mercure in Gold Coast - where they have some nice darker vinyl planks. Survived two happy crazy kids with their trucks and muddy shoes! Now we need to durability test our own!! CONCRET 395Sep 22, 2017 9:20 pm In other news, some action planned! Spoke to our concretor subbed to the project... and he's aiming to get driveway in next week! Kept hammering down our desire to have a soft as possible grade incline for the driveway. Good thing he knew about wheelchair codes having done schools around the area recently. And he seemed confident we can achieve our big want/need! I hope I didn't annoy the crap out of him... Also got a phone call from our solar installer, and they should have installed the system today!! For people's info, I had a bit of a panic attack when I got the 'Negotiated Connection Contract' from our local energy provider (Ergon) when I saw that a potential swap and install of a new 'solar meter' was up to 2000$!! However, I remembered that when Ergon first called me to install the meter earlier in the build so that our darling tradies can use their tools with our power (sometimes), I specifically made them aware we were going solar... so they already pre-installed a solar ready meter. Hence, I hope... as the sales lady from Ergon assured me... we will not get a surprise 'new meter' charge in the next energy bill. As we did not budget for this little surprise. Finally, we will have the big pile of top soil moved around. That means... we must be close. The list is dwindling: 1. Fences ordered.. but the SS has been away all week and the sales team at Dixon doesn't know when we expect it to arrive. 2. A/C System needs to have its giant unit installed. That will be awesome! Hopefully not too loud because we have such nice neighbours in our backyard. 3. Occupancy Cert? not sure when this happens or how long it takes in our council area. Definitely going to run out to the house tomorrow to scope out our brand spanking new 'polar bear saving' solar panels!. Looks as safe as it can be given the position of our house etc. Really reassured about this. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Hmm only ten panels... must be 500w sized ones. More space for more!? Or they are not done installing? edited... my eyes played tricks on me. My bad... 20 panels.. 250w = 5kw total. Duh! CONCRETE GO 399Sep 23, 2017 8:25 pm Great news on getting your driveway boxed up Rural and the slope is much better than having it steep and awkward. It's all coming together now with the fence and concreting, wrapped the solar panels are up too. We are going to go solar for the pool will save our power bill big time. I wouldn't be impressed with a meter charge like that, imagine all the house stuff you can buy with that $2k . Which way do you go to the Coast Rural? In past me or out through NSW? I'm going to the coast tomorrow to pick up my big two from nanny and poppies (might be sneaking to harbour town too ) I'm getting excited for you Rural your getting so close. Your certificate of occupancy can't be completed until council sign off on your plumbing and draining and your shower screens have been installed that should help give you a indication of how your tracking.
