Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Handover FRIDAY - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrom 501Jun 11, 2018 6:02 pm I was over at the house today to finish cleaning the floors. I had planned on taking proper house photos (well, attempt to... I don't really have the proper knowledge or experience) but I stupidly took the wrong tripod adaptor. I took a couple of kitchen photos anyway, here you go! I'm unsure. I picked black splashback tiles with the intention of having the above walls painted black. Do you guys think it looks funny/incomplete if they are left white? Re: Handover FRIDAY - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrom 502Jun 11, 2018 6:08 pm breebarter Oh dear lol, he also lives at Burleigh way so he probably had a long trek back home too lol Oh really? Urgh, that would suck!! I wonder why he got dumped with our build? I have no idea what happened to our previous SS.... maybe he was just taking annual leave or something. I work 3 days a week down at Bahrs Scrub, I should really pop by your estate for a sneak sometime Re: Handover FRIDAY - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrom 503Jun 11, 2018 6:11 pm i love your kitchen so much - that rugged concrete finish looks so so luxe and the kitchen wall looks fine - it provides a strong contrast and keeps your kitchen looking crisp/fresh (as well as linking with the rest of the house). A black wall would look cool though, especially if you had down lights on them. I think it will look fine left white, like gr8ly mentioned, the contrast is nice. I’m not sure what style you like, apart from the monochrome lol! but maybe some wooden open shelving above? Can’t wait to see that long black wall! Yes you should come take a look, you will be able to see our house as soon as you come into the estate, left at the big round about on Menora rd and it’s on the right Re: Handover FRIDAY - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrom 505Jun 11, 2018 7:37 pm Congrats on hand over Staceyrusell, your house is beautiful, love your kitchen, I actually love the contrast of the white above the tiles, I'm sure once you are in you will work everything out. Re: Handover FRIDAY - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrom 506Jun 11, 2018 8:09 pm staceyrussell forgot to mention... happy birthdayyyy hope your partner spoiled you today Re: Handover FRIDAY - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrom 507Jun 11, 2018 8:32 pm I like the white! if you wanted to add something you could always add some charcoal stained timber shelves and a few decorative items Re: Handover FRIDAY - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrom 508Jun 11, 2018 9:05 pm Sorry for the delayed reply, I was busy being a pirate on Sea of Thieves... yarrrr Thanks gr8ly we had thai for dinner (my favourite cuisine) and he made me a hot chocolate <3 tashmc Thanks, I guess we might just wait until the hallway is painted and make a choice then. I'll keep an open mind to the white, at first I was totally against it but it's kinda growing on me. breebarter cc7 I wouldn't mind having like, natural oak coloured shelves.. but my partner doesn't particularly want shelves. Re: MOVING - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrome 509Jun 11, 2018 9:37 pm staceyrussell haha! not to sound twinnish, but i had exactly the same thing on my bday! hahaha! Omg hahaha that's so crazy! Isn't thai food the best!? I always get a red curry and thai fried rice. Wish I could eat it every day. Re: MOVING - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrome 511Jun 22, 2018 3:50 pm How’s everything going Stacey? Slowly moving everything over? Re: MOVING - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrome 512Jun 22, 2018 8:47 pm breebarter How’s everything going Stacey? Slowly moving everything over? Nopes. Haha. We haven't really moved anything over yet. Our internet is connected and networking pretty much complete. My partner just needs to order custom table tops from Bunnings to build his office desks and once they are in we will start the moving process. Re: MOVING - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrome 513Jun 22, 2018 8:50 pm Attempted to take some proper photos a few days ago, I haven't finished editing all of them but here's a few... (We are painting walls this weekend, so I'll have to take new ones once it's all finished). Sorry for the silence, has been a busy few weeks... We spent our first night in our new house on Friday last week (organised removalists for our large furniture), and have been slowly moving the last few bits and pieces since then. Along with throwing away A LOT into a skip bin at our old rental. Finally finished everything tonight! Sadly I don't have any new house photos and will probably be a good month or so before I take any more. It's a lot of effort (I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to photos) and I don't want to capture them until each space is setup properly/decorated. The house is quite large and empty at the moment really... but I'll be sure to post photos here when I get around to doing them. We did end up painting the kitchen and hallway black, along with a few other walls. I'm pretty happy with it. I think it will look even better once we organise some plants and artwork to bring back some white/colour etc. The day that we moved in one of my lillies got a flower! (But the very next day the flower was broken in half, haha) I hope everyones builds are going smoothly!! Really looking forward to seeing our feature lights installed. To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9826 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10921 |
