Re: Almost Handover - Valeco Homes - Polished Concrete + Mon 482Jun 01, 2018 11:00 am seanpain4 I absolutely love everything about your build! I was wondering if your kitchen benchtop is real concrete or laminate? I love the look and was wondering how much extra it was, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks! Thanks seanpain4 Our kitchen (and bathroom) benchtops are a concrete-look finish of Caesarstone (quartz) called Rugged Concrete. Our builder includes Caesarstone benchtops as standard (just the standard range of Caesarstone finishes), so I can only quote you on the upgrade cost for the Rugged Concrete finish. Rugged Concrete upgrade cost was $640m/2. For our kitchen and butlers, this totalled $4,504 upgrade cost. (For our bathrooms it totalled $832 upgrade cost). --- Caesarstone have a few other concrete look finishes. When we first had our colour selections, the only finishes Caesarstone offered were: Raw Concrete, Sleek Concrete and Fresh Concrete. As an upgrade with our builder, this range was only an additional $35m/2 We originally chose Fresh Concrete as a contrast to our black cabinetry. Though we were always a bit unsure about it as we've read quite a lot of bad reviews about these 3 concrete looks - people complaining that they show fingerprints and stain. Not long after we had made our selections Caesarstone released more finishes including Rugged Concrete that we immediately fell in love with as it was exactly what we wanted. It is most certainly more pricey, but we decided it was worth it. (Plus, we were actually quoted incorrectly for our Fresh Concrete kitchen at first making the upgrade cost only a small jump from what we had already agreed to pay). From having seen it in person, I don't think fingerprints/staining would be too much of an issue - particularly because it already has such texture to it and looks so much like concrete that it would just look natural. (The other concretes aren't as textured and still look somewhat fake, so fingerprints and stains would be more noticeable). There is also another new finish called Cloudburst Concrete that would also be a $640m/2 upgrade. I was at the house this evening to water the plants when a Valeco ute pulled up and a guy I had never met before hops out. Introduced himself and said he was taking over our build. We had no idea. He asked a few questions about what we were up to in the build (lucky I was there to chat to him). Our bank has made final payment however it turns out there are still defects that havent been rectified since our PCI which was 5 weeks ago as of tomorrow. /facepalm The new SS was lovely though and is going to call me tomorrow with an update. He wants to get us in asap. Hopefully he can. oh dear! that is the stupidest bloody thing I have ever heard.. days away from handover! I hope this guy gets everything that needs to be rectified sorted quickly for you. Good sign that he was out there having a look though. Your house is amazing! you'll have to give us the official floor reveal. It's so good to finally have a date!! I have sounded like a broken record for months telling friends "we should be finished soon..." and then for the last 5 weeks "any day now"... and nothing would happen. Especially when friends want to plan things and I've always been reluctant to schedule anything because we would need weekends available for moving. My birthday is next Monday... so I'm disappointed that we won't actually be SETTLED IN by then (we need a few weeks to move and set things up for our businesses)... but at least we can GET in by then. Re: Handover FRIDAY - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrom 488Jun 04, 2018 7:41 pm haha fellow gemini - my birthday is this week, and my partners over the weekend. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I'm feeling a little lost today. I took over a few boxes of stuff yesterday (dvds, music, books and pots for plants) to make the most of the trip. And now, I have a 4 day weekend that I would like to utilise but I'm not sure what to do. We don't exactly know when we are moving yet, we need everything setup before we can move so that my partners business can continue operating smoothly. Our internet should be getting hooked up Tuesday, so we can basically move anytime after that. The issue is that my partner is constantly working... and super stressed. We planned to go to Ikea today so that he could buy desks/furniture to setup his office. But it doesn't look like he will have the time. He also would need to setup all his networking. AND, I'm struggling to find things that I can pack and take over in the meantime. Mostly because a lot of our stuff is well, his stuff. It all needs to be sorted (so we can throw out stuff we don't need/want).. and I can't do it without his assistance. I'd like to head over to do a proper clean of the house and take some proper photos whilst it's empty, but I feel it's a waste of a trip if I don't take stuff over. I've already wasted half of my day battling with all this in my head. I'll probably just head over tomorrow. Anyway, SO HAPPY THAT WE ARE DONE!!! Haha, also I'm pretty sure our last SS was the same as yours breebarter Re: Handover FRIDAY - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrom 496Jun 09, 2018 3:18 pm staceyrussell Yes, handover went ahead and we have keys! yay! Haha, also I'm pretty sure our last SS was the same as yours @breebarter Yay!!!!! Congratsssssss At least you don’t have much time restraints with your current lease and such. Sounds like your mind is running over time today! What’s in that tiny little box you got there? Lol Oh really! What makes you say that? I hope he was good to you, we couldn’t have asked for anyone better, however the poor bloke seems so bloody tired all the time lol! Re: Handover FRIDAY - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrom 497Jun 10, 2018 10:31 am I want to know what's in the box as well - things will work themselves out... just focus on your stuff and your things, and when he's ready his stuff will eventually be put in the way you like it... We have soooooo much crap to move. I want to get rid of most of it before it's time - the less stuff, the less stress and moving costs.. i might go minimalist in this house lol Re: Handover FRIDAY - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrom 498Jun 10, 2018 9:20 pm gr8ly I want to know what's in the box as well - things will work themselves out... just focus on your stuff and your things, and when he's ready his stuff will eventually be put in the way you like it... His first initial is S (I don't know what his last name was) and he said that he usually takes care of the Loganholme area. Haha, when I first bumped into him that evening I was watering plants he said "well, I better go... they don't pay me past 3.00pm" and it was probably 5.30pm by that point. Poor guy Re: Handover FRIDAY - Valeco - Polished Concrete + Monochrom 500Jun 11, 2018 6:01 pm Oh dear lol, he also lives at Burleigh way so he probably had a long trek back home too lol To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9830 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10926 |
