Browse Forums Building A New House Re: WALLS/LOCKUP Valeco Homes - Polished Concrete + Monochro 321Jan 21, 2018 5:31 pm *update* Bifolds got redone and its a complete mess, with rips and chunks taken out of gyprock walls and ceiling and dents scratches and chunks out of the timber frame. Plus outside the frame is two levels so far from a recessed look we want. Apparently its been looked into. Also the retaingwall got put in and its too close to the garaGe wall so termite barrier cant go down so they need to rip it out, Handover meant to be 16th feb but I cant see it happening at this rate. Try Temple and Webster as well as Zanui for furniture. Ive bought a lot from them. They do different stuff. I tend to buy through their sales. Little bit addicted atm lol Re: WALLS/LOCKUP Valeco Homes - Polished Concrete + Monochro 322Jan 23, 2018 4:38 pm Shelmac *update* Bifolds got redone and its a complete mess, with rips and chunks taken out of gyprock walls and ceiling and dents scratches and chunks out of the timber frame. Hahahaha, window (web browser) shopping is super addictive at the moment!! Thanks for the recommendations! Re: WALLS/LOCKUP Valeco Homes - Polished Concrete + Monochro 323Jan 23, 2018 5:30 pm Kevinmarques89 If you like the concrete look and don't want to spend thousands might be worth looking at making the furniture yourselfs. Having worked with concrete a lot its not to difficult. Thats what we plan to do as weve gone over budget with our build 😂 Theres also plenty of diy concrete tables on YouTube that are easy to follow and look great. Just food for thought Brilliant! I think we will probably end up doing this actually. My partner is pretty keen to attempt making a concrete table. If it works out we might try making some other concrete decor too! Re: WALLS/LOCKUP Valeco Homes - Polished Concrete + Monochro 324Jan 23, 2018 5:35 pm allblaqk Although that being said we are starting again when it comes to furniture so we are paying a bit more for interesting, quality pieces. I think if you are going to have them for a long time then yes pay a bit extra BUT also if you are planning on having children you will have to consider that in your purchases. It may be worth it to get something you like a little less for half the price. Thanks for the recommendations. Unfortunately I'm not too keen on them, even though they are pretty similar there are differences that I dislike. I'm sure I'll find some cheaper alternatives though.. just gotta keep looking. My partner is pretty keen and confident he can make a concrete table. And I think I've decided that I'm pretty happy with an ikea bed to start with (unless we find something else reasonable), and the console/coffee table I can just hold off on until I find something I like at a good price... they're not necessities. Re: WALLS/LOCKUP Valeco Homes - Polished Concrete + Monochro 325Jan 23, 2018 5:53 pm We had our meeting with the construction manager today to chat about the gaps at the sliding doors/alfresco decking. It went pretty well... Their suggestion is to get a custom made black aluminium piece (matching the sliding doors) to insert in the gaps.. which will have a slight lip over the concrete floor to help hide the chips along the edge. Then they need to rip up the bricks that they put under the doors so that they can put in the decking flush with the doors. The end result won't be exactly what we wanted/paid for, but it's a reasonable solution. We also met with our new site supervisor which we will have from here on out until completion. He was really lovely. We noticed they put in a water pipe at our fridge location. It wasn't on our plans.... we're not upset about it, happy to have it, but it has been put up really high. We've asked them to move it lower because we don't have overhead cupboards (which it would typically hide behind). Cabinetry has all been delivered and should be going in soon so that the tiler can finish. Benchtops are being installed on the 1st Feb. And then it should hopefully be smooth sailing from there. Below are some quick photos that I took - again, I didn't have my camera with me (I don't have a decent quality wide angle lens, so I haven't really bothered with it) apologies for the poor phone quality. main bathroom showerLike ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ main bathroomLike ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ #ravine #natural oak #matte black #exile charcoal #shower niche #monochrome Re: WALLS/LOCKUP Valeco Homes - Polished Concrete + Monochro 327Jan 23, 2018 8:43 pm icat2000 Loving the kitchen cabinets. Yeah fair enough... It was worth a shot I'm really fussy with the style of things I like so I totally understand. Sometimes its better to wait and get something you really love even if it is more expensive. Re: WALLS/LOCKUP Valeco Homes - Polished Concrete + Monochro 331Jan 23, 2018 9:25 pm loving everything those black tiles and black draws are awesome, and love the ravine finish.. it's what we wanted but budget stopped us glad they are helping to fix the gap issue Re: WALLS/LOCKUP Valeco Homes - Polished Concrete + Monochro 332Jan 24, 2018 3:03 am staceyrussell sparrowsnest staceyrussell [quote="icat2000"]Loving the kitchen cabinets. I think I like it better but I’ve just seen the natural oak in a couple of display homes and they only had it in the matte and it did look nice enough. So I’m not sure if you can really tell just looking at it. I can’t wait to see your kitchen installed! I have always loved it and every time I go to choose it during my colour selection for a build, I change my mind the last minute. haha Happened again this time. Hopefully the darker finish will turn out okay too, we went with the darker finish which i also love - bottega oak in textured finish. Haven't seen many people use it as it is such a dark colour but looking forward to seeing it done. Also, did you find another alternative for those furnitures? I have seen those concrete tables at Nick Scali cause I also looked into it to purchase a while ago. Also try Homeworld Helensvale if it isnt too far How exciting! nearly there! 2014 Custom Home - Antech Constructions - 2018 Custom Home - Valeco Homes Re: WALLS/LOCKUP Valeco Homes - Polished Concrete + Monochro 334Jan 31, 2018 7:57 am staceyrussell We had our meeting with the construction manager today to chat about the gaps at the sliding doors/alfresco decking. Just curious - did you go with the no cornice finish? Did it cost a lot? Re: WALLS/LOCKUP Valeco Homes - Polished Concrete + Monochro 335Jan 31, 2018 6:31 pm _sallz Ommmgggg I love the natural oak. Hehe, natural oak was my absolute favourite. I had seen so many inspiration images that used natural oak... and I think it will best match our cypress pine decking - being a lighter/yellower wood. The Bottega Oak looks really nice!! How is everything going with your home journey? What stage are you up to now? Yes! I did see the concrete tables at Nick Scali.. a pretty decent price too (they were on sale recently when I enquired). However my partner is probably going to try making one himself once we have moved. As for the other furniture... very hard to find bed frames in a colour/style that I like. But if we go a cheap version then I quite like the Malm beds at Ikea with the storage drawers. Coffee table, I haven't found anything to match exactly what I wanted. But I did find a cheap place when searching Instagram which has a few cute little things... Mocka Australia. I'll possibly buy a few things from there just to decorate initially and look at purchasing more expensive, quality "forever" pieces gradually over time. Thanks! Yes, we sure did!! The cost was $2,760 to cover the whole house except for garage. I'm not sure how many linear meters that is exactly.. nor what the per linear meter cost is. Hopefully that's helpful though to give you a rough idea? How is everything going for you? What stage are you up to? What stage are you up to? That's great and it looks awesome. I love the look but we were on a little bit of a tight budget at the time so we ended up with cornices... We've driven past your build a couple of times and the facade looks nice. Our build's going well. A little slow but getting there. We're close to being "enclosed" - just waiting on a little bit of cladding to get done. Inside's a little bit ahead with painting starting next week and tiles after that. When will your floors be done? Re: WALLS/LOCKUP Valeco Homes - Polished Concrete + Monochro 339Feb 10, 2018 10:37 am gr8ly Any updates staceyrussell? has everything been installed yet? When will your floors be done? I was going to sneak into the house but my partner told me not to. We havent had any updates since we last had our meeting about those gaps. We have emailed twice to chase updates but they havent gotten back to us. Pretty frustrating. We got invoiced for fixing stage so we assume tiling and cabinets are all done. I drove past on Thursday and noticed our driveway is done and some more facade stuff is happening. Hopefully we recieve an update soon. We are supposed to meet on site again to check-off on the custom aluminium piece for the gaps before that is installed. I will be sure to take more photos then. Our polished floors are done - these were done at frames stage. But it's all covered up for protection so we havent seen it. Very excited for it to be unveiled when the time comes. To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9830 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10926 |
