We were supposed to meet with them but instead expecting a phone call of some kind. To upgrade from a 3* system to a 6* system is $2,000. They reckon it is $500/year cheaper to run. Then, to go from a single zone to a dual zone, i.e. upstairs and downstairs can switch independently and be set at different temperatures, that is another $1,000, but can create additional cost savings to offset that price (typically they reckon that the $3,000 spend is recouped in 3 years, whereas the $2,000 spend is recouped in 4 years - I think it makes sense if you don't just run both zones all of the time.) We also added 2 extra duct outlets - one in master ensuite (cos we are soft) and one in the laundry so we can use it as a drying room in wet weather. The extra outlets are $150 each. So, all up, we are up for $3,337 or there abouts. If you PM me, I can forward you some brochures to read. You can also upgrade the controller from a network controller to a fancy ipad like touch screen for around $300 and if you have evaporative cooling, you can spend $500 upgrading to a system that has 2 key benefits 1. motorised seal for winter which reduces the risk of draft and heat loss, and 2. the ability to recycle the water and reduce water usage by 45%. I skipped the fancy controller and evap upgrades. Re: Porter Davis - Madison 40 263Nov 09, 2017 9:49 pm Hang on a second...are you building the mad 45? I asked for another outlet in the laundry as well and was told it's not possible because you need a void to run the duct! Re: Porter Davis - Madison 40 265Nov 09, 2017 10:06 pm MikW I am building the Madison 40 and I am just waiting to hear back whether it is possible, time will tell if we get it. Instead of an extra duct in the ensuite, we went for speed heat flooring I think we get two zones and a network controller in our promotion, but I want four zones and remote app access Building a Madison 45 with Porter Davis Madison 45 Blog (Send me a PM with your email address to be added) Re: Porter Davis - Madison 40 266Nov 10, 2017 12:53 am Hi Guys, Just discovered this thread while browsing up the other PD home thread... some good informations here. We are building waldorf48 and exactly same timeline as MikW, our wos appointment was on 8th too. It was very stressfull, overloaded with informations/selections. May be i would have seen you MikW at WOS . So far roughly we are spending this much Kitchen and Galley - 14K Electrical 17k - Tiles 11k Avoided going to Birk- will do from outside. Other external and internal upgrade - may be 5k around. Price not confirmed yet. Now I am into the 48hrs grace period to make changes.. I am trying to cutdown some stuff which can be done post handover. Also any one doing downlights in ground floor post handover, they charge 59$ per batten + 19$ offset to move the batten to downlight position. So its close to 80$ + Down light + Labour cost + headache of doing it post handover. The downlight cost through PD is 130$ so its not huge gain doing it outside. What are your thoughts guys. We added around 40 in ground floor, so thats adding up the cost. First floor we are definitely doing post handover. i couldnt get a chance to meet Brivis consultant, it seems there is no representative from brivis in WOS. Earlier there used to be one. How do we finalize the brivis stuff then. Btw Were you given a contract date yet MikW. ? Ours is in Jan Thanks. Re: Porter Davis - Madison 40 267Nov 10, 2017 6:58 am Yeah, we just locked in our contract for 8th January. We get $10k off if we start by March, so hopefully that gives us enough time! Nice job on the upgrades, and yes, it is just manic. There isn't enough time allocated for people that are detailed and specific, but I guess they need to strike a balance somewhere. You did well with your upgrades given how big the waldorf is, and how many bathrooms it has We are going to revert back to standard battens in the minor bedrooms to save money ourselves. As you can see from the previous post, our upgrades are extensive. :/ Building a Madison 45 with Porter Davis Madison 45 Blog (Send me a PM with your email address to be added) Re: Porter Davis - Madison 40 268Nov 10, 2017 7:14 am fademan Yeah, we just locked in our contract for 8th January. As a result we have a 1 December contract appointment. 😁 Re: Porter Davis - Madison 40 269Nov 10, 2017 8:11 am fademan Speaking of curtains, birk came back with a revised quote under 20k that would cover the bedrooms and front of the home, with no shears to try and get my business. They proposed to upgrade the curtain brackets to double so shears can be installed later. Upgrade of brackets for four rooms was $900. So going from a $10 bracket to arguably $20 bracket is $900. The brackets weren't even drawstring, but manual. I ask again: what planet do they think they're on? Can you get quotes from curtain companies using just the tender drawings and elevations? I feel like giving the birk quote , which includes fabrics, to another company to see what they come back with. fademan Yep just use the tender drawings to get the quote. The drawing has the measurement for the windows and sliding/stacker door And once your skirting and architraves are installed around the windows, let them know and they send someone in to do a final measure. That should be fine. I will make them change that, I can't believe it, I would of never of picked tat up. Much prefer your window design.makes me question what else they could have got wrong. Re: Porter Davis - Madison 40 279Nov 11, 2017 4:22 pm fademan On another note, our selections are looking like this: Kitchen culture $33k (all cabinets) Wardrobes $8k Electrical: $25k Interior selections: $18k Tiles $17k...might be closer to $22 (tossing up upgrading the downstairs tiles to Capri travertini grigio in lieu of Alpine Stone). So we're looking like $100k in upgrades and a total build cost of just over $600k. Seems excessive....sigh. We have alpine stone in our bathrooms, wish I choose something else. There are a lot of variations in the tile. I feel like ours look dirty Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12182 |
