Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 20, 2015 10:39 pm Hi guys, My fiance and i are in the early stages of building our new home! We have purchased a 538sq block in Greenvale and have decided to build the Amalfi 532 with Mainvue. We are both pretty excited as a lot has been happening. We are settling on our block on wednesday and from then on it's all steam ahead! We were pretty lucky with the land as we were able to purchase it titled so there hasn't been in time wasting in searching for the prefect house for us! There have been many weekends spent at many display villages around Melbourne! haha. After about nearly 2 months of going back and fourth with our sales assistant we were finally able to lock in our quote and be booked into the next stages. Today we had our first information session at the Henley head office. Very informative i must say and we were quite surprised with the range that they did have and what were the standard inclusions. We have been very organised and we actually visited the head office prior to even locking in the quote to get an idea of what sot of options they had to offer. We had a rough colour palette in mind and after 4 hours we had basically chosen our entire colour scheme throughout the house, both interior and exterior. We were able to note all the fittings we wanted, appliances, flooring and we were quite surprised when we didn't blow out the budget with all the upgrades in lieu of our current quote! The colour selection which is booked in on the 4th of Jan should be a breeze! (Hoping ) so, - Jan 4th is Colour selection - Jan 12th is Tender - Feb 15th is Contract Will post some pics shortly of some our selections & looking forward to updating you all with our progress through the build process! Re: Building our new Amalfi 532 3Jan 03, 2016 9:42 pm Good luck!! We are building with MainVue too. We have contract signing on Thursday! A big week for both of us Re: Building our new Amalfi 532 4Jan 04, 2016 1:22 pm Cant wait to see your choices and watch your build progress. I love the Amalfi's Building our new Amalfi 532 6Jan 04, 2016 10:39 pm Okay so as expected it was a huge day! Took us 6 hours but we were able to lock in all our colour selections. We went in there with a fair idea of what we wanted and it turned out that we stuck to the plan with a few minor tweaks.
Here is what we chose.. Firstly starting with the facade. We have chosen the "avenue" facade which is allowing us to incorporate the increased ceiling heights we have opted for. It looks amazing and has a number of Windows allowing for a lot of natural light to come in through the master bedroom.. This is a pic I took of the facade in williams landing Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Now the colours.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We opted for the lighter colourbond roof which will have the stained chocolate timber which is matching the front door. We are fully rendering the front with light grey pillars, darker grey around the sides and garage and then a darker shade for the garage. This will tie in with the metallic grey aluminium frames for the Windows. We chose the Cat 2 Austral ash brick for the rest of the sides and back of the house. Next was the kitchen/flooring Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Cupboards will be a white silk with a fresh concrete colour for our island bench top with a black splashback which will continue into the butlers pantry. We felt this went well with the particular floorboard we chose... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bathroom was next.. The second bathroom/powder room will follow in with the same scheme and will have a black tile feature wall around the mirror Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Next is tender which will be on Tuesday to lock in everything and find out how much we blew the budget (haha) Definitely exciting times ahead! We are building in greenvale gardens. You're in aspect?? How did you find your build process with mainvue? We are building in greenvale gardens. You're in aspect?? How did you find your build process with mainvue? Yep in Aspect. The build overall was pretty good. Definitely recommend getting an independent building inspector. If they know you have one from the start the quality seems to be better. All up only took four months so very quick. Very happy with the house, apart from a few little things that need fixing, it's been fine. Good luck with it all! Re: Building our new Amalfi 532 11Jan 05, 2016 9:25 am Have you thought about timber Windows for your facade? I know it's a bit of extra $$ We wish we made all our windows timber now, they seem to be better quality than the aluminum. They do require maintenance too but I don't mind that. Love you tile choices. Did you upgrade your white tiles to a cat 2 or 3? I only ask as we have cat 1 white tiles and they are not great quality and don't cut well. Building our new Amalfi 532 12Jan 05, 2016 1:18 pm That really is a quick build. We are definitely engaging in an independent building inspector. Did you use one for only a couple of stages? Also how long from contract signing did they start on site? Re: Building our new Amalfi 532 13Jan 05, 2016 1:33 pm jessicana10 Have you thought about timber Windows for your facade? We thought the timber was included with our facade but obviously found out it was an upgrade so we opted for the aluminium. We are worried about the maintenance of it. Even the girl from mainvue said here would be a lot more Maintenance involved. It's an optional upgrade at $690 The tiles we choose is an upgrade to cat 2. Have you had a bit of trouble with yours? Also what appliances did you guys choose? We are going for the combined upright cooker/oven but can't choose the brand? Technika, Bosch or Smeg? Re: Building our new Amalfi 532 14Jan 05, 2016 1:48 pm Hi Elite, Love your colours. It will be really nice ?. We are using the same brick. Good to see someone else choosing them Everyone else seems to be going for darker bricks good luck with your tender. By the time we put Cat 4 floors, cat 3 carpet and a whole lot of other stuff, plus refrigerated cooling & high site costs - we managed to add $110K onto the base price We received the contracts today to review. Signing our lives away on Thutsday. Re: Building our new Amalfi 532 15Jan 05, 2016 3:26 pm Love your colour selections! I used Darbecca for frame, lockup and PCI inspections. They were really good. I think after contracts it was 4-6 weeks before start on site from memory. Yes we are fully prepared for the tender blow out because going into tender we are already about 80k over base price Good luck with signing your life away! Lol. How much did refrigerated cooling come back at? Also did you do a step down garage? If so how much was it?
