I'm trying to figure out the best place to put mine...or I'll just turn the garage into a fish room Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=85381#p1630392 Re: Our Metricon Merricks 38 143Sep 06, 2017 9:01 pm Ran out of budget doing the retaining walls Took on doing the retaining wall and laminate flooring myself to stretch my savings. The aquarium got deferred until I get the furniture and white goods. Didn't catch it on the plan until they built in. But I have full render on my house to meet covenant rule. Therefore the cement fiber board is painted in the same colour as render so I can't tell that it's cement fiber board. My wife and I are building the Metricon Merricks 38 Peninsula (43sq after modification) in QLD. Below are a list of my modifications and selection at M-Studio: Modification to the Standard Plan 1. Switch master bedroom to rear. Extend upstair's rear wall to add 3mx4m WIR for the wife, a small WIR for me, and parent's retreat. This turned the plan from 38 to 43 SQ2. Extend garage by 0.5m and add roller door to garage rear3. 2.7m ceiling downstairs and 2.5m upstairs. All internal doors raised to 2340mm high4. Add shower to powder room5. Add provision for fireplace in living room and gas point for fireplace6. Add corner stacker door to Outdoor room, rebated the tracks, and removed post at the corner7. Add corner butt window looking into front study (to get a hybrid Peninsula and Como facade)8. Open stringer staircase. Provision to built an in-wall aquarium under the stairs after handover9. Changed sliding windows to floor to ceiling awning window with no transom (similar to Sovereign 50 at Upper Comera) Selection at M-Studio Facade 1. Full render, Axon clading upstairs and tiling to both front piers (to meet Covent requirement)2. Atura Baramundi tile and a-line ridge (for a flatter roof) with Sarking underneath3. Whirly bird and vents4. 1.2m wide x 2.4m high pivot door (WINS) with clear glazing on side. Got mortise lock but took credit for door handle. Will install door handle post handover as I want a 1.8m long handle5. Caboa Slimline door with remote (seriously why is automatic garage opener still an upgrade in 2016) Kitchen, and Butler Pantry 1. Extend island to 1.4x2.5m. Caeserstone Alpine Mist 20mm with waterfall sides. Cabinets on both sides of kitchen island2. Organic white 20mm on kitchen rear and Butler Pantry bench tops3. Overhead cabinets with glass panel4. 900mm gas stove5. Appliance tower in Butler Pantry6. 2PAC (whisper white) with deep reverse beveled panel and soft close throughout7. Cold water tap to fridge space Ensuite, Bathroom, and Powder 1. Fully frameless shower (with no door)2. Rail shower head3. Additional rain overhead shower head, and freestanding bath in Ensuite4. Wall mounted vanity5. 2 PAC (whisper white) with deep reverse beveled edge panel with soft close, and Organic white (20mm) stone benchtop6. Tap mounted on mirror7. Stylus Banksia cistern with soft close lid8. Show tiled to ceiling and shower niche Electrical 1. Ducted vacuum2. Ducted aircon (included as part of ultimate house warming promotion). Extra aircon controller3. Upgraded to gas HWS after adding third shower in powder room4. Cat 6 cabling throughout (the cost of this was highway robbery from Stratus) Things For Post Handover 1. Driveway2. Fence3. Retaining wall4. Carpet and tiles5. Upgrade light batten throughout to LED downlight post6. Install fireplace in living room7. Decking in outdoor room and front portico8. Landscaping9. Pool Hi there, Ive been following your build, and have been fascinated by the whole process. Hubby and I have chosen the Merricks 42 to build in Beveridge, Vic. Our land settles in Nov, so build will probably only commence end of Jan/Feb..... Im so anxious, and I just want it to start already. We have our colours apt at M next week and just wanted to get a heads up on some prices... (they wont give me any via email- so annoying) Id really appreciate it if you could give me the prices for the following: Appliance tower in the pantry Cupboards on the other side of the kitchen island 2Pac cupboards Showers tiled to the ceiling Ducted vacuum and the ducted Aircon The external colours you guys have chosen.... LOOOOVE!! The house looks great! Thanks heaps Re: Our Metricon Merricks 38 147Oct 01, 2017 1:10 am Hi Cazz, Congrats. Would love to follow your build. Did you make any changes to your plan? Below are the costs: Appliance tower was $860 Cupboards on other side was $875. But to put cupboards, you have to make the island wider to make space for the cupboard which incurs additional cost depending on whether you choose laminate or Caeserstone. 2pac was 14K. But don't consider my price as it's not fixed. It depends on the number of cupboard doors. Tile to ceiling was 4K. But don't consider my price as it's not fixed. It depends on the price of the tile you choose, plus large tile has laying surcharge, and area of wall that needs to be covered. Ducted vacuum was $1995 I got the ducted aircon as part of promotion so don't have price. How`s the post handover, must be busy on other small improvements? Yes the window frame is champaign. Happy with the colour. It fits with the decor and colour scheme of the rest of the house Post handover is going really slow. Ran out of budget. Completed the carpet upstairs through Carpet Call. Doing laminates downstairs myself. Still have to build retaining wall, driveway, and fence. Haven't moved in yet. We upgraded the roof tile for a flatter look. We got Atura profile in Baramundi colour and A-line Ridge.
