Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 15, 2017 10:34 am We moved into a new build Henley home 2 weeks ago, but noticed that many spots on the floor upstairs squeak. Our upstair floor is carpeted, so there are definitely issues with the subfloor itself. The problems can be categories as follows: 1. Some spots squeak obviously every time walked on 2. Some spots squeak when first walked on, but may not make the same sound again when walked on the second time. But such sound will definitely happen again if walked on a few hours later. 3. Some spots make some sort of hollow sound (not normal footstep sound) when first walked on, but may not make the same sound again when walked on the second time. But such sound will definitely happen again if walked on a few hours later. This hollow sound makes me wonder if the subfloor has been properly fixed, maybe not enough nails for solid fix? Builder has identified the Cat 1 problems and will come back and fix them. However, regarding Cat 2 and 3 problems, I reckon they may want to get away with it saying those issues are not repeatable. I would like to ask people on this forum if you have experienced any squeaking or "hollow" like noise on your upstair floors? I was expecting that the upstair carpeted floor should not make any squeaking noise and should be solid everywhere when walked on.. Jimbo73 I would use heaps of adhesive on each sheet and screw rather than nail. use as many as you like cheers Simeon 1 4064 XCEM Alpha flooring seems to relatively new and I could not found any reviews. Have you or someone you know have used it and would recommend over other subfloor options?… 2 7588 Would also like an opinion from anyone that has used xcem over hebel for floors. Thanks 1 14227 |
