Walkthru looking at the electrical work yesterday with the new SM, and a few things were found and discussed.
In the butlers pantry, we were getting two downlights running east-west in the room. Due to the ceiling beams they cannot do this down the middle, so Metricon will now be putting in 4 downlights in this location otherwise they would need to put the two lights off-centre and look stupid.
The work done by the electricians looks pretty good. The comms cablers, not so great. With my IT comms background none of the cabling work appears to be against codes, but its just messy and not a professional job. The SM said he cannot get them to re-do it, but will ask them to come at least tidy it up a bit.
Now the big thing... I noticed they have not bricked over the sliding doors to the portico.
He said they will just do an infill, which I was not happy about as the upgrades for our contract states "Provide brickwork above windows and doors to side and rear elevations in lieu of standard" and there is nothing stating infill on our drawings or plans anywhere. I think I then found the two lintels for above the sliding doors out next to the skip bin, and pointed this out to the SM.........
When discussing it he believes if it was meant to be done, possibly they did not do it as they couldn't get in a supporting brick pier in the corner as the sliding doors were already installed and they couldn't get into the gaps. He is going to go back to the office and investigate this more as hes new to my build so does not know all the contract and full details, hopefully a good solution can come out of it as I am not impressed about the possible infills!.
