Which is fair enough I guess. But sucks for the people building a new home. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 542May 26, 2017 9:50 pm Given that the building industry is booming, you would like there would demand for them? Yeah I don't know what's going on there. But think about it? Why do you think they are trying to encourage hebel? Cos the tradies wanna charge more. Cos there is lack of Brick layers. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 544May 26, 2017 10:29 pm I think it's because it's quicker, easier, better for render, better for thermal insulation for 6 star. Yeah it's better in that way. But the reason why they offered that deal of hebel for $3500. Was because the tradies wanted to charge more for laying bricks. That's why m wanted to move away from bricks. I was told that by my consultant and my csc. M Even thou hebel martials is more expensive then bricks. It's much cheaper too install. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 546May 26, 2017 11:25 pm Doulton777 Renman I think it's because it's quicker, easier, better for render, better for thermal insulation for 6 star. This was the cast for us. This was the cast for us. Overall it's cheaper then what the Brick layers want to charge. When you got your hebel. It must have been at the time when brickies weren't charging a fortune. So they basically charged you the full price. But with mine it was just basically the timing. Of when Brick layers were starting to cost a fortune. So they figured by giving us an incentive. That we might choose hebel over Brick. Because of the shortage of Brick layers is actually costing them as well. Plus the build takes longer. My consultant said that the full price would have been $15,000 if the hebel promo was not on. It saved us on bricks. As we had an allowance there for $9000 for bricks. viewtopic.php?t=86597 Re: My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 548May 27, 2017 8:09 am It's a common issue of where home were stopped because of brick shortage as well. Our main reason for going hebel for look and insulation, the high price was just the effect of our choice. Re: My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 549May 27, 2017 9:04 am Woo hoo! We went with Hebel for the same reasons above, but best of all it was a promotional inclusion for us along with full rendering & a colorbond roof from Porter Davis. Can't complain much about that deal, as we would have preferred a fully rendered house anyway if we were going bricks path. Pity they didn't offer Hebel sub-floors as that would have done wonders to sound insulation b/w the floors. According to the Hebel website the other advantage is that it is much faster to install Hebel panels, so it could accelerate your build time as well. Only thing I'm not sure is if we can install anything at all on a Hebel exterior wall like Clothes lines, vertical planters etc, as I have heard they don't generally support drilling into the Hebel wall. We will have to see how we can manage that down the line. We thought about it and turned it down because it was over 10k, had to increase the over all height of the house. This would have been an issue with out 9M high restriction that applied to my area. So in the end we settled for the acoustic insulation between the floors instead. We added 85gm carpet and 10mm thick foam and banned the kids from running, jumping and bouncing on the top floor. Lol We have upgraded carpet & underlay too. However, we decided only to have sound insulation only to the walls and ceiling of our theatre as it ended up costing us 1200$, so that was it for us...how much did the sound insulation cost you? By the time my two young kids is old enough to be chatting on the phone we will have VOIP and wireless phones for them . Invested heavily on data point and wireless access point to give me more that enough coverage. We presently don't have a ISDN phone connected in our house. Have been the case for the past 5 years. Have you invested in data point and wireless AP?
