My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 1442Feb 08, 2018 9:04 am Dani_J Wow, looks great Renman! Are you happy with the overall look/ finish? Thanks Dani Very happy that the surfmist came out whiter than the sample that was given to us in the showroom. It looks very similar to the white timber windows. There’s still some imperfections on the render finish that we have asked they look into. My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 1443Feb 08, 2018 9:55 am Glad you’re happy with it, and hopefully they’ll sort out those minor issues. And good to hear about the surf mist garage door. We changed to this at the last minute after initially agreeing to upgrade to a white powder coated option for almost five hundred dollars! Couldn’t justify it in the end. Re: My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 1444Feb 08, 2018 1:37 pm Hi Renman, looks really good with the garage door in place. Just wondering, what are the things sticking out of the Hebel above the garage door and on the top left? We are getting sensor lights and wall lights post handover. We got some in side the pillar niche too. To all bedroom, bathroom and laundry - Acoustic insulation between the floors and internal walls - Upgrade center window - Increase internal doors to 2340mm - Provision 1300mm Heat & Glo Mezzo has heater - One other major thing we have asked for is to increase the outdoor/alfresco ceiling height to match the roof line (7 Meters). This will make the area more open and reduce the heat in summer and allow more Northern sunlight into the living/dinning areas in Winter. Hi Renman, just been reading through your blog and amazing home. Would you mind sharing the cost to upgrade your kitchen bench to 40mm cat 6 stone and the shaker profile cabinetry throughout? We’ve just started the process up in QLD and want to try and work out a budget for the kind of home we want to build. Thanks heaps Re: My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 1450Feb 13, 2018 12:38 am Re: My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 1451Feb 13, 2018 11:36 am Thanks so much for sharing that! We’re torn between the convenience of doing it all through Metricon at the time of the build or leaving what we can post build so this helps. Do you mind me asking how big your island bench is? And 20 or 40mm stone? Your house is so beautiful btw! Congrats on a great build. Re: My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 1452Feb 13, 2018 12:27 pm Where abouts in QLD are you? I can share the mob that did most of our joinery post hand over. Wish we did even more post, would have saved us a bucket load. Re: My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 1453Feb 13, 2018 12:37 pm Hi Dulie, thanks heaps. We’re in Brisbane (north/ north west). We’re at the very start of our journey so imagine a long way to go before we start building! Guess we’ll put everything in to our dream requests and start culling from there. Reading through everyone else’s journeys it seems that it’s not uncommon to spend $300-$400k above base price to match a display home! Reading through everyone else’s journeys it seems that it’s not uncommon to spend $300-$400k above base price to match a display home! Yup you're pretty much spot on. Our base price was $380k 3 years ago, and by the time we were happy with everything the bill was in the $650k range. And we did a lot post hand over, would have easily gone over $700k if we did everything with Metricon. I would even go to the point of getting them to do the cheap laminex for the areas that you have to do. i.e kitchen and island, then replace the doors post handover. Reading through everyone else’s journeys it seems that it’s not uncommon to spend $300-$400k above base price to match a display home! Most of the display is 80-100% more than the base price. Just depends on you budget, amount of variations and customization to the floor plan. The site cost can also play a big part to your budget, we had to spend around $100K. Re: My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 1459Feb 13, 2018 3:57 pm I probably used the word happy incorrectly. I should have said by the time the house was "complete". IE all joinery, mirrors, flooring, curtains, security screens, feature walls etc. Re: My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 1460Feb 13, 2018 5:05 pm Thanks Renman. Our budget is probably sitting around 800k at the moment for a 50sq house plus pool and landscaping on top of that. Although we’ve paid our initial $1500 deposit, by the sounds of it, might be worth looking at smaller builders too. Appreciate all the advice - lots of food for thought. PS apologies for hijacking your thread!! We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 36896 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 18893 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13299 |
