Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 121May 20, 2017 3:48 pm Was so excited to have a look at the house today! Bricks are all finished and plaster is almost done How often do people hear from their crc? I haven't heard from ours since slab stage and that was to tell us she was leaving and we'd be getting a new one Also has anyone made any last minute changes during their build? We decided to be cheap and not pay extra for white skirting/architraves and doors and I'm really regretting that decision. Does anyone remember how much it was to have the white? Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 122May 20, 2017 4:30 pm Oh you must show some pics of the bricks finished We paid $375 but I would think yours will be a different price. Were you lucky enough to get the 3 coat system? Their inclusions changed just after we signed so we only got two coat but luckily the colour we chose carries itself well We added extra power sockets during electrical stage. We did go through CRC who arranged it with the sparky, bypassing the office so we avoided the $500 fee for making a change Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 123May 20, 2017 4:49 pm Oh we were told it could be a $1000 fee for changes Yeh we were lucky enough to get the 3 coats! I thought it was around the 400 mark for us so that sounds about right. I can't decide whether to leave it and maybe paint post handover if we don't like it or save the hastle and just get it done now. I'll pop some photos up now Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 124May 20, 2017 4:53 pm Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 125May 20, 2017 5:44 pm Looking so good Cass! Our CRC didn't even message us to tell us she was leaving, we heard it from someone else in the team and then the new one emailed me the other day! I'm assuming we would probably have the same people? Haha. Love those doors Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 126May 20, 2017 6:23 pm alexandraa Looking so good Cass! Taryn actually emailed me for an unrelated thing then mentioned at the end it was her last day. I feel strange asking the new crc to change something when I've never met or spoken to her. I might speak to the ss and see what he thinks. He is a champ, I hope you get him as well. Seriously couldn't fault him. Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 127May 20, 2017 6:25 pm I had Taryn and now we have Ebonie! oh really? That's awesome! I hope we get him then haha, the OH wants to try and get in at frame stage to do our aircons and stuff Im sure you could ask the CRC it is their job after all Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 128May 20, 2017 7:39 pm We hardly heard from our CRC but we were in frequent contact with our SS who was on the ball and fantastic about replying to messages and letting us schedule site visits. Most of the emails I got from our CRC was old news, not her fault really as we were at the house nearly every other day and could see first hand what was happening. I would never have gone light but the OH is a bricklayer and really wanted light bricks. I'm glad he did though, I can't stop looking at the photos haha Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 132May 21, 2017 2:53 pm Cassie.f90 Megera We hardly heard from our CRC but we were in frequent contact with our SS who was on the ball and fantastic about replying to messages and letting us schedule site visits. I just read my post back and I made a mistake. I should've said most of the emails from our CRC were old news NOT our SS, he had up to date info and current timelines, the CRC was emailing us about stuff that happened a week or two previously...! Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 134May 23, 2017 4:31 pm So I emailed the crc and never heard back but I did see the ss today and he gave me the painters number to organize through him as well as the sparky in case we wanted to add some power points etc. so what colour paint (Haymes) is your skirting? Cabinetry is booked in to be installed next Wednesday can't wait to see our colour selections come together! Thats ok, thanks Marshall Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 137Jun 01, 2017 8:46 pm It just gets more exciting every time I go to the house which is only about once a week. We have a kitchen and bathroom vanities! But unfortunately there has been a mistake with our island bench and the sink has been placed in the wrong spot at least it will get fixed up asap. The facade is also complete just needs paint on the weatherboards. I'm still gutted we didn't do something like this when we knew we wanted to have shelving & pc there Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 139Jun 01, 2017 10:06 pm Marshall5858 Sooo excited to see the study nook. I'm still gutted we didn't do something like this when we knew we wanted to have shelving & pc there Unfortunately we weren't able to get the shelving there, something like they couldn't get it to size? But I am loving the bench with the laminex, we will get floating shelves from bunnings probably to go above. Are you still going to do something similar? Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 140Jun 01, 2017 10:16 pm Yes hopefully, we don't have the wall that you have there so the shelving won't look as nice but we need something, too many books!! go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110564 Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title, you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves, to see if they will allow… 1 11035 |
