Just hope it's all quick easy fixes! Has anyone had their concrete do this?? Seems a bit strange to have a nail there in the first place, it's obviously split the wood. Hoping that's not really an issue and doesn't need replacing. I wouldn't be happy about the slab chipping off like that but no idea if it's normal, sorry Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 106Apr 16, 2017 7:42 pm Marshall5858 Maybe get an independent inspector if you're at all worried. I wouldn't be happy about the slab chipping off like that but no idea if it's normal, sorry Yeh definitely not happy about it but will see what the SS says. he mentioned via text that there was a slab issue and we would discuss a solution we are all happy with so that's what I'm guessing it is. An inspector is definitely sounding like a good idea at this point if I'm not happy with what he says Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 107Apr 19, 2017 11:33 am Been having a think about our landscaping today.. this is what I've come up with.. Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 108Apr 19, 2017 12:10 pm Do you know what the easement is for (ie: sewerage/drainage, electricity, or a right of access, etc)? I'd contact your council regarding it, as some councils may actually allow you to build over it (I've heard of people being allowed to build decks etc so long as they have a "access port" type manhole ability in it) so you could possibly put the shed back there depending on what Council have to say! Oh that's interesting, thanks JM, I'll have a chat to the council when we are looking at sheds. Ive just had a look at our land contract and it's a drainage easement owned by our shire. Oh that's interesting, thanks JM, I'll have a chat to the council when we are looking at sheds. Ive just had a look at our land contract and it's a drainage easement owned by our shire. I believe my folks had an easement (here in SA) when they built a few years back in a cut off corner part. They were allowed to put a shed so long as it did not have a solid base (ie: put down non-concreted pavers) - which in all honesty worked fine for them and allowed them to put the shed out of the way. Not sure 100% what would be the requirement for your shire and council, but they may be able to give you some ideas. You can also plant things like flowers/veggie gardens so long as the root system isn't too deep from what I've heard. Could definitely help with the flow/layout if you could get approval to pop the shed back! Or could make a private sort of parent-garden-nook with a nice small outdoor setting possibly! I'm thinking my partner wouldn't like the idea of not have a slab.. It's going to be a workshop for him which he would like to turn into a bit of a man cave as well. Thanks for the tips though, I'll definitely get him to speak to the shire and see what our options are. If we have to keep it off the fence maybe I could turn that space into a dog house or chicken pen it will be a kids back yard for a while so I'm not going to make it too beautiful for them to ruin. The side deck will be the pretty part of the yard haha Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 112Apr 28, 2017 6:11 pm So it's taken a while for roof trusses to be completed with the public holidays and rain we've had but it's finally done To our surprise the guttering is almost complete and bricks have been delivered! We haven't even had our on site meeting yet for frames. Building the simonds palisade in gippsland Re: Building the Simonds Palisade in Gippsland 116May 03, 2017 1:31 pm Just some progress pics The frame stage took a little longer than expected as the engineer messed up the slab in the garage, it need to be extended in one corner and now we will have a patch on our garage floor so they have offered to put some kind of paint/seal over the whole floor for their mistake which I wanted to do anyway so bit of a win there Master bed Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ensuite Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kitchen Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Back family room Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Loving our high ceilings!
