It’s given me lots of ideas that I wouldn’t have thought of. Now it’s just making sure I can afford it. I’m definitely moving my dishwasher to the butlers pantry and moving my microwave and oven to a stackable cabinet. Never liked a microwave that low. Has only lowered the bathrooms so that the bathroom floor is flushed with the hallways? Re: Rawson Homes - Balmoral 34 MK1 St George Area NSW 128Feb 24, 2018 2:32 pm We're lowering our bathroom, laundry, powder room and ensuite floors to let the tiles sit flush with the floorboards/carpet. We're only art the start of the build so all I can show you is the recessed slab at this point. We paid $400/room for this I think. Any suggestions or anything you’d change if you could redo some parts of the house? (ie down lights, extra powerpoints, upgrade staircase, glass balustrade, etc) Hi Madbair, even though we are not in the house yet a few things I would do differently would be, to tile the back stairs, front porch and alfresco (we thought let’s do it ourselves after handover but now it’s just another job) and I wish someone told us to have the doorbell intercom put upstairs. I think I would have upgraded the air conditioning to have seperate zone and more power. We have upgraded the stairs, which I think will look amazing and we put in extra PowerPoints etc. I am really happy that we got the floor to ceiling tiling and frameless shower screens in the bathrooms. We have put two ovens in a tower in the kitchen and are putting in an induction cooktop after handover. Good luck with you plans and build. I hope yours is much faster than ours 🤞🏻 Re: Rawson Homes - Balmoral 34 MK1 St George Area NSW 130Feb 25, 2018 7:11 pm Hi Fee121, Thanks for the info. How long ago did you start construction? I’ve been told the builds are taking about 9 months but I’m not expecting anything sooner than 12 months. We haven’t done any of our internal selections or electrical yet but the intercom was definitely something we want to have in the kitchen and leisure room. If you don’t mind me asking, what was your upgrade cost for the wood stairs, glass balustrade and the floor to ceiling tiles in the bathroom. As much as we’d love to upgrade the house, we’re on a budget do we need to separate our wants and our needs. The tower for the double oven sounds amazing especially if it’s 900mm. We’re hoping to get a tower for our microwave and the oven. Never understood having a microwave so low especially when we have two little ones. On your air con, did you choose the standard 2 zones? On our tender we’ve added two additional zones and hope the included air con is powerful enough. Downstairs we’re having bed 5 and theatre on one zone, family, kitchen and dining in another zone, ensuite 1 and leisure on another zone, and the other 3 bedrooms on another zone. Thanks again for the tips and I hope you get to move into your new home soon! All the best Re: Rawson Homes - Balmoral 34 MK1 St George Area NSW 131Feb 25, 2018 9:27 pm Nice floors, wish I would have noticed them at tiles direct! Re: Rawson Homes - Balmoral 34 MK1 St George Area NSW 132Feb 27, 2018 6:00 am So our SS has gone on 3weeks leave due to having a baby. I wish him all the best However it means we have no one looking after our build again Apparently Brian the regional manager will look after it 🤞🏻 They have done the form work for the driveway etc and the carpet gets laid on the 9th March. I assume there’s some kind of clause in the contract? You’re going on 15 months. Was there issues with council or something? Nope no issues just slow. They keep apologising but it doesn’t get the job done. Re: Rawson Homes - Balmoral 34 MK1 St George Area NSW 137Feb 27, 2018 10:35 am There’s gotta be some kind of compensation for this long of a delay. My colleague built with Clarendon a few doors down from you and he noticed yours was the same as what we’re planning on building and was like “are you sure you want to go with Rawson? They seem to take forever to build.” Wish you all the best and hopefully you’ll get to enjoy your new home soon.
