We've also given our couch, TV unit, coffee table and bar stools on my nephew who's about to move into his first place by himself so we'll also drop those off at the same time. Follow our build with Express Two Storey (Ventura Group): http://tinyurl.com/jlykgph I did a move like that when i first moved in with my now wife. We had to shift stuff from my house and then her house to the new place and i had stuff at my brothers house i had to pick up and move into our new place and because i was taking my furniture back from my brother i had to go to a few places and pick up his new furniture while we had the truck. It was a full on day. We were exhausted after the first load because it ended up being one of the hottest & most humid days of the year 😫 Yeah weekday rates are much cheaper but sadly i can only get an extra pair of hands on the weekend. My wife used up most of her leave when we went to Japan for the wedding. She's already losing a day's wages for the PCI meeting. Summer moves are horrible. I helped my brother move last year when the temps were in the 40s. It was made worse because i got there bright and early and he hadn't even started packing. We started shifting stuff at about 7am and dropped the truck back at the depot around midnight. Told him he's on his own next time he moves Only plus side was his new house has a pool so we stopped for a midday swim to cool off Our build thread with Smart Homes for Living in Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86092 Re: First timers - Smart Homes for Living in Wellard 304Jul 20, 2017 3:43 pm All getting a bit real now. PCI in the morning. Building inspector has sent his final invoice and so has my builder. I'll have to sit down and go over the original documents to see everything adds up. There's a random $900 and odd credit on the last invoice so will have to find out what that is for. Also thinking of asking for site works invoices to make sure all of the money provisioned was spent and not just pocketed (perhaps that's where the credit came from?). Not that I think my builder has short changed me at all but if you don't check you don't know I guess Anyone else ever asked to double check their siteworks allowance added up? I'll also have to get my insurance sorted now. Randomly Woolworth's works out the best value. I had ruled them out but my folks have their house insured with them and recently had to claim for the aircon motor going. Had it replaced with no fuss. Will do some more research tonight anyway. Good luck with PCI!! I didn't check anything in terms of site works, mine were fixed.. I didn't have any provisional sums in my contract. My insurance was with Budget Direct, but I had my car with them so was easy to just add on the house and contents, I was happy with their service and price. No major issues, just a few cosmetic things like paint touch ups and some doors needing a bit of an adjustment. Also one of the sliding doors on the theatre needs replacing as it has bowed and is rubbing when it opens on the rail. There is still also some outside work that needs doing as the rain this week stopped the painters from finishing the front render and downpipes and things. Our inspector seemed pretty happy with everything. He said it was mainly cosmetic stuff but everything is structurally sound. One or two bigger items that he will list in his report when he sends it to me but nothing he sees holding up handover (think he just wanted some sealer on the roof touched up). Was happy with our site supervisor too. He had got there early and already went around putting dots everywhere for touch ups. He even spotted one or two more as we were walking around that I missed so it was good to see him wanting to make sure everything was perfect. As it stands it looks like we should have keys in no more than about 10 working days Our build thread with Smart Homes for Living in Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86092 Re: First timers - Smart Homes for Living in Wellard 315Jul 21, 2017 8:00 pm Great news that PCI went well and there was nothing major, you'll have keys before you know it! Nothing too major in there. Mostly cosmetic stuff the builder had already picked up on like outside paintwork incomplete and a couple of doors biting. He did also pick up a dent in a window sill that we missed during our walkthrough. He also pointed out that the sarking in the roof had no sag in it, apparently according to the manufacturer it should have a 40mm sag. Although he also told us most builders in Perth seem to install it without the sag and the main reason he picks up on it is because he use to install it. He said it won't affect the performance of the sarking, he just listed it as a defect because it goes against the installation guide from the manufacturer. The only way to fix it is to rip the tiles off and relay it which he didn't recommend doing. We also noticed a design flaw with our kitchen. The overhead cupboard closest to the cook top doesn't open all the way due to the rangehood. It still opens wide enough for it to be a perfectly functional cupboard, it just didn't occur to us that when it was open it would hit the rangehood. aloenyx Congrats. Sounds like it went well. We might be moving in at the same time I know that 's crazy! I feel kind of bad because you have had to wait so long for your move in date but at the same time I'm glad that you are finally getting your keys!
