Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 11, 2008 1:29 pm Hi guys,
We are planning to build a home in the Melbourne western suburb with a new builder called 'PlacesHomeLandLife'. It seems like this builder is a sub-division from PD.. We walked through into their display home and everything looks amazing. In term of price, we think they have a good value and good inclusion too.. Has anyone got an experiences dealing with them? Any Feedback will be much appreciated.. Thanks guys... -T1ms Re: PlacesHomeLandLife anyone?? 2Aug 11, 2008 7:41 pm I'd be very wary of an unknown builder who appears out of nowhere.
I'm rather wary of the lack of contact details on the site. Display locations aren't good enough. Re: PlacesHomeLandLife anyone?? 4Aug 11, 2008 8:50 pm rellie The ABN on the Places website is registered to the Barrett Property Group, they are the same group that owns Porter Davis Homes. Ahh... that would explain why I thought their brochure design was similar to PD's. Also, the sales person advertised on the brochures I saw was the same sales person at PD when we signed up with PD in Dec 07. Yap, when I visit their display home, I can feel "PD's finishing touch" feeling... Also in their office, they got a PD stickers on their laptops too and they even share the colour selection place with PD. I am planning to put deposit to locked-in the price this coming weekend. Should I be worry to go ahead with this builder even though they are under Porter Davis wings? What do you guys think? In mind this gonna be my first experience to building a house.. Re: PlacesHomeLandLife anyone?? 7Aug 12, 2008 11:46 am Barrett Property Group used to build in Vic with similar standard inclusions to this under the name Yarrahill Homes. (I think it was Yarrahill or something very similar. ) I don't know what happened to them and I'm just wondering what the reason is that they're not building under the PD banner?
Sub companies all under the one banner sometimes makes me suspicious, but I'm a conspiracy theorist from way back. I'd be doing a lot more research before I signed up for the biggest financial commitment of my life if I was you. Also I wouldn't be swayed by feeling the "PD finishing touch", from the reports of a lot of the PD customers on here, they're not even getting that at the moment. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: PlacesHomeLandLife anyone?? 8Aug 12, 2008 6:34 pm joles, you're right.. Yarrahill homes still under PD too.. (see the link below) But they just dissapear, I couldn't find their active website..

Re: PlacesHomeLandLife anyone?? 9Aug 12, 2008 8:41 pm Well if you annoy all your customers then change your trading name, nobody will be the wiser! Re: PlacesHomeLandLife anyone?? 10Aug 12, 2008 9:38 pm Hi T1ms
Check the ASIC website. Type in the company name and it will bring it up. These are the documents associated with that company at the moment. 31/07/2008 024776331 2 205A Notification of Resolution Changing Company Name 27/05/2008 024715553 3 484A1 Change to Company Details Change Officeholder Name Or Address 29/11/2007 1E3881167 3 201C Application For Registration as a Proprietary Registration date was 29/11/07, next review date is 29/11/08. Not sure what any of those documents mean but ASIC is a good place to start to check into a company. Re: PlacesHomeLandLife anyone?? 11Aug 14, 2008 3:49 pm Thanks photogirl, I had a look in the ASIC website but none of them does make any sense to me except for updating their address or changing their company name..
At the moment, I feel that the sale person from 'Places' has been very helpful so far.. Well, I guess I need to follow with my guts feeling then.. Re: PlacesHomeLandLife anyone?? 13Aug 14, 2008 9:06 pm Hi T1ms
I don't really know what it all means myself but I thought maybe 31/07/2008 024776331 2 205A Notification of Resolution Changing Company Name, might provide some information on who they were trading as previously and give you a bit more information to do some research. Problem is you have to buy the document to get that info. However if they have been trading under a different name you will be able to find out more about their business and their houses. They may simply have changed their name to appeal to a different market. Places home land life is quite a good modern name for a company. Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 17236 As title suggests, looking at using the interlocking Pentablock stacked stone products to replace failing timber retaining… 0 11114 I am building in claymore NSW and this is shown in the building envelope plan. … 0 4973 |
