Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 11, 2008 10:58 am Just found out our site supervisor is looking after 18 homes at the moment. How do they do it? The good thing is we don't feel like we are being neglected. He answers all our calls and or reply within the next 30 mins. Plus he seems to know exactly what we are talking about. He is always friendly and get things done as promised. How do they do it? Re: Busy site supervisor 3Aug 11, 2008 12:57 pm From what I understand, this is fairly normal for a project builder. Everything is pretty well documented and the sub-contractors are pretty familiar with the constuction methods. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: Busy site supervisor 6Aug 11, 2008 2:08 pm I only know of Murphy's Law. This is a new one I have to remember.
it amazes me how they can keep up with all the schedule of work required to build a house, all 18 of them. Why don't they start their own building business? Re: Busy site supervisor 7Aug 16, 2008 11:16 am Sammy,
I heard that the industrial standard is about 20 per SS. We always found that they can only spend about 30min max per week on the site, which is definitely not enough. If they can increase it to at least 30min 'per day', I bet the quality would be much better. if you need to discuss anything with SS the proper channel would be to make an appointment with the CSR. The other way is, if you live near by, just go on -site when there's some trades working, but sometimes they don't welcome you there... Re: Busy site supervisor 8Aug 16, 2008 2:25 pm Thanks ahuang,
Our CSR is almost non-existant. Apparently she is suppose to keep us updated. However, I hardly get any calls from her. If I do, it's not for update! I think she probably get the latest from my blog! I didn't even know there is an industrial standard for these kind of things! I agree, they should concentrate on less rather than more. Customers look for service and quality nowadays, and with the popularity of the internet, there really is no barrier to protect companies. If someone is not happy, they can tell the world instead of just their friends! Re: Busy site supervisor 9Aug 25, 2008 12:18 am Sammy
We are currently doing our reserch into a builder in Melb called New Dimension and their SS tels me he looks after 20 -30 at one time and all over Melb and down to inverlock which is 2 hour drive!!! Maybe they supervise via the phone? Hope your SS keeps up the good work. I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13103 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37150 |
