Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 07, 2016 8:20 pm Hey everyone, Really struggling with what to do for window coverings. I'd love to know everyones opinion! What worked well for you, what do younwish you'd done etc. Also, specifically if you're building/built with HGWA. How much did you spend, and who did they use as a supplier. Thanks in advance Re: Window coverings - opinions, prices and photos? 3Dec 08, 2016 9:28 am Hi, hope this helps (we aren't with HGWA though). We are having double blinds - sunscreen and blockout - on nearly all windows, with matching pelmets. Colour wise, we picked a soft greige colour for all blockout blinds, pelmets and panel blinds, with white suncreen behind. I wanted a colour on the windows, but not one that was going to attract a lot of attention. The two sliding doors in the living areas have wide panel blinds, which will match the colour of the double blinds. Pelmets on these also. In our room (which is the front window) it is slightly different. We are having a white blockout blind with white sheers on eyelets in front for privacy, and just a single white blockout blind in the WIR. This all cost just over $9,000.00 (installed). A fair chunk of money but they will all be done all at once and will all match. The laundry, ensuite and bathroom will have white venetian blinds. Good luck! I had online prices quoted that would mean us installing ourselves and then found a lovely independent guy who supplies and installs for a decent amount cheaper than the budget online stores! We had blockout cartridge blinds in the kids rooms for max blackness in a soft pale charcoal colour, and romans in our room, with pale linen coloured romans in the front theatre and study. The windows are reasonably narrow (which I actually regret a little) so opted for the lighter colour so as not to draw too much attention to the width. We have tinted these windows so didn't need privacy. Also he hung them high up next to the cornice so when fully pulled up the bottom just touches the top of the recess; so as not to cut out light. He's a great guy and has a missive range. He has them made in the same Perth factory other big local companies use. I love them, especially the cartridge ones. He has a Facebook page with photos (I'd say photography isn't his skill though 😆) Signature Blinds Hi there I'm looking for a independent company for a expert report on my blinds ,sheers & plantation shutters I'm in Melbourne 0 9221 Tradie may sit at home but will need to get house plastered as well or will you sit it out? 6 9918 I have been looking into getting quotes for a reno I am doing shortly.
