Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 04, 2016 7:58 am Hey all Building a new house on the Gold Coast with Plantation Homes and hand over is in 2 weeks. We have some issues with the wet area tiling though and had a few questions. Basically our friend (who will be tiling the main areas) came in to check the place out, and immediately said the tiling is rubbish and there's no way he'd sign off on it. Tiles are rectified edge porcelain (300x300 in wet area on floor) fwiw. He went and grabbed his spirit level to check the falls and for the majority of tiles there's basically zero fall, with a handful of tiles sloping away from the drains... In the main bathroom basically all the tiles around the drain (outside the shower) are sloping away from it.. The drain is almost like it's sitting on top of a little hill. I have checked out the Australian Standards and sounds like this will need to be fixed, but I know what site supervisors are like and he will try bs his way out of it.. Secondly the grout is way too deep. I went to check the house out when they were doing the grout, and it was a fairly young kid all by himself. I assumed he knew what he was doing but doesn't look like it. Again, Australian Standards state that Grout should be flush with square edge tiles. Sound right? Next up is lippy tiles. Again there's a handful that our tiler said were unacceptable. Standards state something like 1 or 1.5mm lip maximum, but measuring it would be quite tricky I imagine... Anyone have any feedback or suggestions as to what the best way is to go about this? Any excuses the supervisor may try on us? With regards to the fall in the tiles, is it going to be a case of putting water on the floor and showing him that it pools instead of going down the drain? Thanks for the ideas guys. Hi All, This is my first bathroom Reno and tiler has just finished installing marble tiles…only problem is they don’t look right?
