Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 10, 2008 2:05 pm Hi we are thinking of demolishing our house & building a kit home, instead of extending. We have came across a 26sq house for $105 000 (hardiplank). It doesn't include a slab or floor coverings or bearers & joists. We may use bricks. What would be ball park figure to get a slab laid & to have it built. Re: kit home costs 2Aug 10, 2008 3:49 pm i just bought a house today in upper beaconsfield, previously we looked at land and building a kit home a 24 sqm tr kit home completed to lock up was $185,000 no floor coverings / plaster/ etc so probably $200,000 plus
cheaper to get a house of plan the house i bought in upper beac was cheaper than buying land and building a kit home Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: kit home costs 3Aug 10, 2008 4:01 pm Can't help you but I'll just stick my nose in and say that doesn't sound as cheap as I would have thought. For example you can get a similar sized basic spec house for about 150k that includes a slab and is obviously assembled. Not to mention it will be brick.
For a hardiplank kit home once you add a slab and assembly it doesn't sound much cheaper and you have a house with a much lower resale value. It just doesn't sound very cost effective. Of course you may have other reasons such as building zones etc but I thought I'd just throw in my opinion anyhow.. I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13098 Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering.
