Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 23, 2016 2:50 pm Hi,
Having problems fitting my 1200 pivet front door...devastated They have said I need to take a tiny bit out of the garage or go back to a 1020 door. I love the huge doors I find it is a feature point of most lovely houses I have seen. Can you all please share your photos of your front doors and what size it is 1200 or 1020. Are you happy with it? Also do these prices sound right?? 1200mm INFSW6G pivot door is an upgrade cost of $2,278. 1020mm INFSW6G pivot door is an upgrade cost of $2,167. Re: Front Entry Doors 1200 v's 1020 2Nov 23, 2016 3:06 pm Mine is a 1200 door... initially it was 1020 and attached to the garage wall but when I upgraded to a 1200, my builder swing the door the other way and it is attached to the other side wall... I asked why; he said the door will be heavy and the garage wall wouldn't support it... Mine will be hinged and not pivoted... the door is not yet in so can't share photos... Check KLB's thread..she got a 1200 entrance door and looks amazing... Re: Front Entry Doors 1200 v's 1020 3Nov 23, 2016 3:38 pm Posting to follow we are having a 1020, interested to see. Can anyone share how much they are paying for there's? Re: Front Entry Doors 1200 v's 1020 6Nov 23, 2016 7:50 pm We are having a Corinthian 1200mm pivot door - these are pictures from the display, our quote is for the same door including the side light in translucent glass (upgrade) not clear. I've asked for a quote to have the height increased to 2350mm to match the internal door heights as our ceiling is 2720mm The current quote without the extra height with sidelight and in translucent glass is $1720 - the original quote was around $1100 for just the door in clear glass. http://i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r672/mec06/Mobile%20Uploads/ACA69FFB-B559-431B-98D6-EAD5ED98D2FD_zpstj0tqgqc.jpg http://i1361.photobucket.com/albums/r672/mec06/Mobile%20Uploads/FD2BD69D-4B98-49E7-AB8A-0FFBFA1F7F03_zpsznxzwasy.jpg We previously went through the tender stage with another builder and for the same door without the sidelight in clear glass was $3612 ?? We are upgrading the door handle as shown the the Gainsborough Omni back to back. Good luck with your decision! Thanks for sharing.. I feel mine is way over priced and now don't know what to do. Only thing I can think of as to why mine is so expensive, is that you may have a more expensive house inclusions package to us (plus it's a different building company). Can anyone else share their price on their door? Re: Front Entry Doors 1200 v's 1020 10Nov 24, 2016 6:47 am ZoePerth We have a 1200 normal hinged one, which didn't cost anything like your quote. I think maybe it's the pivot that increases the $$. Would you consider normal hinge mounts? I would consider hinges but I got told it will cost the same. I'll ask again today. I wonder by having it on hinges is it heavier to open then a pivot? Re: Front Entry Doors 1200 v's 1020 11Nov 24, 2016 6:54 am Love this door, this is the one we will be choosing I think!! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=85653&p=1642230#p1642230 Re: Front Entry Doors 1200 v's 1020 12Nov 24, 2016 8:06 am ZoePerth We have a 1200 normal hinged one, which didn't cost anything like your quote. I think maybe it's the pivot that increases the $$. Would you consider normal hinge mounts? Hi Zoe, Yes I would get pivot. Only if it is the same with opening the door and not harder then a pivot to open (because of weight of door). Though the company are saying it's the same cost hinge and pivot. I will ask them again today because they always like to change their stories. Re: Front Entry Doors 1200 v's 1020 13Nov 24, 2016 8:08 am Wow lucky you Bec! Is it a solid door? How do you find it with hinges, easy to open still? Re: Front Entry Doors 1200 v's 1020 14Nov 24, 2016 8:18 am Yes, pretty sure its solid. Very heavy but opens with ease. (everyone will go for pivot if it is the case)... I was debating between operating a heavier door or spending $3k...if we think about it most of us will be using the garage entry door 90% of the time to get into the house and the main entry door is more for the looks...I decided to spend the $3k somewhere else... Remember if you are going for 1200 hinged, ask the builder to put 5 hinges instead of standard 4 hinges (shouldn't cost you anything unless the builder is greedy) Re: Front Entry Doors 1200 v's 1020 17Nov 24, 2016 9:38 am ZoePerth Ours is fine to open but maybe the door they're quoting on is heavier or thicker wood than ours. I don't have a photo just of our door but it's timber with four wide strips of glass. Maybe yours is the engineered laminated timber not the full solid timber..? I have no idea. It's all very confusing to me. Thanks for the info!
