Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 20, 2016 2:49 pm I am building with clarendon and have decided to do our driveway separately. We have not submitted our house plan to cdc yet. Clarendon want us to submit a vehicle crossover application to council and then they can submit the house plan to cdc. Is a vehicle crossover simply a driveway? I thought we could do it once the house is finished. The application requires us to provide the detail of the licensed concreters but will anyone agree to do it now even though we are about 10 months away from having a house? Has anyone had to do this? I've asked Clarendon why they need the application submitted so early, but no response from them. I'm building in Edmondson Park so if anyone has a concreters to recommend, I'd appreciate it. Re: Vehicle crossover advice 4Nov 20, 2016 3:45 pm Thanks for your reply. I've sent you a pm. Hope it sent. I do have a simple driveway plan Clarendon included with the house plan. It only shows the slope of the driveway on a side view. Do council need something in more detail? Re: Vehicle crossover advice 5Nov 21, 2016 6:16 am Do it now or it will hold up your build! Somebody forgot to order mine (builder doing driveway) and now we are scrambling and pleading to get permission. Driveway pour has been delayed and we can't take possession until it's done. I'd use the builders plans if it's pretty much what you are having. Re: Vehicle crossover advice 6Nov 21, 2016 10:29 pm most councils require driveway/vehicle crossovers at the start of the build. a lot of it ties in together, regarding the gradients, design of the crossover, etc. every council should have a standard detail to which your driveway must comply with. this has to do with certain distances from boundaries, kerbs, etc. it's not too tricky to follow these guidelines. the other main issue which i'm not sure whether councils always require a high level of detail on is the gradient. if you've been provided with a pad level for your house, along with an R.L. at the kerb and boundary, you can figure out the gradient. councils will indicate on their standard drawings the gradient which you will need to achieve. i've heard of some cases where the council/designers didn't certify & calculate these properly, which resulted in a non-compliant driveway gradient which was realised after it had been poured!! let's just say it was not a cheap fix... Re: Vehicle crossover advice 7Nov 21, 2016 10:33 pm Good lord that would suck! I think because we were cdc ours got missed...still shouldn't have as council will always inspect these and drainage on the block (and collect the dosh along the way for these!) Hi Pretzel, can you recommend the concreter you used to do this ? I have been asked to do the same by my builder in South west Sydney Thanks Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing. If you just do a 400x200 footing it will fail in time. At 17m long you need it… 1 18132 Hi All, I engaged a tradie to install concrete retaining wall 600-800mm high over 32 meters in Victoria. WA has a particular way of building and unfortunately that's the way a large amount of sills are finished. 3 7012 |
