10m Frontage Block - Dreamstart Build - Calleya Estate

Well so far, we actually can't complain! Right up until late on Saturday there was a team at the house

We now have front render, our garage has a ceiling (ish), part of our alfresco does, too, and we have pipes and things! I'm so technical, I know.
Too good!

Oh golly, that worries me about the sticker dots? Are you concerned?

You should still be in before end of lease, surely?

Weirdly, I really like the brick pillar in our alfresco. At least to my untrained eye, our external brickwork is magnificent.

Posting to follow along, your build seems to be going really fast! How exciting!
Love your selections as well, can't wait to see it all come together

Thanks Niki
it's going really well at the moment - apparently lots more happening in the next week.

Have you got a thread?

I'm already dreading lock up for that reason... I'm way too obsessed with visiting site!

Had a couple of things yesterday - definitely glad it has rained. Initially I was annoyed because this is the one week we didn't need it (so they could finish roof and plaster), but now I'm glad it did.

The rain has shown us the portico gutter has a big leak... visible by the veritable water fall gushing down the column. Sent to CLO for follow up.

Also the Dreamstart build behind us seemed to think it was a good idea to link 3 extension cords across two vacant blocks in the rain to use our power?! Not sure what's going on there, but that was passed on, too.

Also started to notice a few gaps in eaves that are just the product of laziness/poor workmanship. My previously non-existent "issues list" has just grown exponentially

But in perspective, it's all things that can (and will...) be fixed.

Ceiling stuff has been delivered, but for some reason there is one patch of roof over the bathroom that remains unfinished. Probably no more than 1sqm, and there appears to sheets leftover, but it just hasn't been finished.

The ceiling guy was there about 6pm on Monday, and he was saying that he had wanted to start the ceiling (pursuant to SS plans) but he needed the roof done.

So we shall see!

I guess the rain was a good thing then as it let you pick up those problems and it doesn't look like they will be too hard to be fixed relatively quickly.

Are you using a building inspector through your build?
Yeah, definitely grateful we noticed now.

We had considered it, but haven't approached any yet. Might do for the final inspection.

Were you going to use one? Seems to be pretty popular.

Yeah, we are going to use an inspector at slab down, plate height, roof and PCI

We haven't decided on who to go with yet though. It's an added cost but I feel it's more of an insurance policy through the build having an experienced set of eyes to take a look over things. Also I can tend to travel a bit for work without much notice so it's good to know that someone will be able to keep an eye on things if I'm not around during certain construction milestones.
Yeah that's a good idea. Luckily, we live quite close to site so we go most days to check it out. And our parents! The extra eyes always help.

Definitely an insurance policy, worth the money 99% of the time.

So far we're pretty happy, but as you say - we aren't experts.

Looking forward to following your construction
