Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 12, 2016 10:52 pm We used to build a home with volume builder, no many choice, straight forward, two meetings to get more selections organised. The house was built in 5 months, some minor problem encounter which was a good experience. We now building a new home with custom builder on an irregular block as the plan offered by custom builder was good. However, we found the initial contract really means nothing as we can change any items we wants but pay extra as upgrade. We spent more than double on the similar size home by volume builder, but got less inclusion such CCTV, alarm, down lights, etc. Plus the kitchen is big unknown yet. We had been pushed to the limit by builder, can we get out of contract? get an independent valuer to audit the cost and settle, It might be difficult to get the new guys finish off and but it almost finish off frame stage, ready to do plumbing and electrical before the plastering. Any Suggestions? Many thanks! Re: Building a new home with custom builder (Blow the Budget 2Nov 13, 2016 2:49 pm So you've already signed the contract?
