Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 30, 2015 12:40 am Ok, so I wasn't going to have a whole thread to myself but am a little excited now. We started this journey over 18 months ago (a can of paint and a perfectly good 10 year old house we built). And this was going to be an easy move into something already built adventure but you can never find exactly what you want. We found a good sized block with a couple of minor challenges; 1) it's a triangle. Now I'm not talked slightly narrowing sides. This goes from 40m to 6m . b) there's a 2.5m slope diagonally from back to front. iii) there is a house on it. So we found someone to help us along the way and design a house to suit the block so that is 1) and b) taken care of and a great big 30 ton excavator took care of iii). Of course the problem with the above is we had to throw away and pretence of keeping to the budget, or the new budget, or the revised new budget or the ......... You get the idea. So anyway getting to the details medium sized house 2 storey, split level, underfloor heating etc, etc. So now I find myself living in someone else's house whilst I wait for an excavator to push some dirt around. They pretty much have the rafts dug but as it's split level there will be two pours and waiting for the in slab heating. I'll post facades once I move some pics to my photobucket account. If you are really interested in the plans pm me and I'll send them to you. Re: Custom build in Adelaide. 3Jun 30, 2015 6:15 am Very exciting, I think most of us start threads to share our builds and have something to chat about during all the waiting! We too are renting whilst building. Re: Custom build in Adelaide. 4Jun 30, 2015 9:55 am Hi again all,
it's a much more respectable time of the day and I'm thinking a bit more coherently. The elevations and overall site plans are attached as well as a CAD render of the frontage. As you can see whilst I am more than confident with the engineering and CAD design the rendering process eludes me (there are only two colours, black and white, right). I actually have the entire build modeled including studs, flooring and steelwork and I have it geo-referenced but the sunlight and colours just aren't working so don't judge the render to harsh. As for the builder it's Gasparin Homes. BTW big thumbs up for Magill demolition who came to the rescue when an other company dragged their feet. They did an awesome job and were a hit with all the kids in the neighborhood. We are custom building in Adelaide as well but not as far down the track as you. 2015 5 June:Land settled 21 Oct: Planning consent granted 2016 28 Jan: Development approval issued 25 Feb: Foundation prep begins Re: Custom build in Adelaide. 9Jun 30, 2015 9:02 pm Woweee, this is an interesting un! You weren't kidding about the shape of the block. Good job working that out ... take a bow. Hell yeah I want to see that plan! But I guess you're guarding it, and that's cool, I understand. Bet it's really clever like the façade/ structure. Very, very nice. Good to see a Gasparin build on here. First I've seen. Look forward to seeing how this puppy goes ... Re: Custom build in Adelaide. 10Jul 06, 2015 6:55 pm So the builder started cutting out the raft a week and a bit ago with the advise that the first pour is pencilled in for this Friday. The underfloor heating was going in today so we now have a very purple site. The guys there had a heck of a job trying to line up the non existence walls where there are so many angles oh and it was a quagmire after all the rain last night. There's still quite a bit of for work to go in before any concrete arrives. It s at this point you double guess yourself as to if you have put enough conduits for garden lighting etc. Re: Custom build in Adelaide. 11Jul 06, 2015 7:44 pm That's exciting, have never felt underfloor heating till the other week at beaumonts was really lovely especially with polished concrete or tiles would be soooo good. It rained quite a bit last night which is a pain for building but hopefully it's not going to be too wet this winter!
