Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 08, 2016 8:48 pm Been following this forum for MONTHS.... and now I've decided to join the gang and start my own feed. Building with HGWA. Building the Michigan. We've had prestart and felt pretty confident with what we wanted. I knew things to watch out for and made a list of things to check/ask for. All up we came in under budget. My bf is a sparky so he is doing most of the electrical after handover. (Apparently we were one of the fastest couples to complete the electrical side of things. Was done it just a few minutes.) We want 600x600 tiles and so that too will happen after handover. Can't wait for the Slab to go down. Just waiting now I guess Re: Build with HGWA 2Nov 08, 2016 9:40 pm Hey, welcome to the forum We have pre-start woth HGWA in a few weeks. Any chance you could share how much your upgrades cost? We're trying to get an idea so we can budget, plus see if there is anything we missed. Re: Build with HGWA 3Nov 08, 2016 9:54 pm We've made so many additions so I'll rattle off a few things We are getting grano to our alfresco so we can tile it later $912 1m wide draws instead of cupboards $1032 The nicer draw handles $264 and positioned horizontally frameless shower frame for bathroom with and hobless shower reflux for ensuit and bathroom ~$1000 Chrome integrated tile floor for bathroom and ensuite $288 The Omni pull handle for front door $370 Microwave recess $526 Plasterboard ceiling with cove cornice to alfresco $625 (so you don't get those ugly joins) I learnt to try and get as many thing in the actual contract so you don't have to worry about them at prestart. Feels a little bigger now with the walls up. Overall good, but I'm missing a few bricks in our bedroom where a shelf is going to be between the ensuite and bedroom.
