Those bedsides are perfect in your room! They were definately the correct ones so classy! It has that hamptons style in your bedroom which is my favourite interior design! The rug is a tough one!! I would go something light to soften the dark furniture pieces... have you got colours in mind? I'm leaning towards a creamy/white or very light grey. I agree your table might need some colour...again I think it just needs something to soften it. It all really looks beautiful How great is the new kitchen! I'm constantly in awe of mine. Do you still walk around your place in disbelief that it's actually yours??? I'm constantly blown away by my house, I seriously am IN LOVE with it. I can really appreciate the horrible feeling people experience during natural disasters that have damage to their homes.... I would be devastated. My heart and soul is built into this house some how! I can't wait to see your turf and plants done our back... and the blinds... these simple things seem to transform the house even more!! We are like you and holding out for dry weather to turf. It's a shame your not able to get any extra time off work... that big Easter weekend is far off though!! Your home is so beautiful too Every morning when I wake up and walk through the house I'm just in awe and so so thankful to be in a position to build such a beautiful home. I agree with what you said about your heart and soul going into a home, especially when you see it transform from an empty dirt lot, to a beautiful home I just finished safety proofing the front and back yard in preparation for the strong winds of up to 125km/hr predicted this afternoon! Fingers crossed it doesn't damage/destroy our front garden!! Oooh that rug is really pretty! I was thinking of a light grey and white striped rug to add some pattern and also soften the look. I'll definitely be on the lookout for a colourful centrepiece (maybe those fake flower bouquets??) for our table, and a nice light blue table runner. That should soften and brighten at the same time Follow my build - Newlyweds First Home - Hallmark Homes Coomera QLD https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?url=ht ... are_type=t Re: Newlyweds First Home - Hallmark Homes Coomera QLD 544Mar 30, 2017 1:09 pm Your home is so beautiful!! The house is looking amazing ❤️. What Dyson is it? I can't work out which stick to get Thanks SNS! We got the Dyson V8 Absolute as the battery is way bigger and better suction overall Follow my build - Newlyweds First Home - Hallmark Homes Coomera QLD https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?url=ht ... are_type=t Thanks! We have a Dyson animal hair normal vacuum and tossing up if we should get the stick or a Roomba Is the roomba one of the ones that goes on its own? If so we were told by sales guy it's not great with dog hair (esp GRs -which I think you have one too) they get too clogged with their hair I really wanted one. [/quote] Yep we have a golden retriever and a border collie so looks like it will be a stick vacuum. Love all your furniture ❤️ Re: Newlyweds First Home - Hallmark Homes Coomera QLD 552Apr 02, 2017 7:52 pm We have a roomba and love it. We have a fluffy cat and it picks up the hair no worries. I also have long hair that I seem to shed a lot of and it picks up my hair ok. I have to untangle it from time to time from the roller but it is great. We haven't had any trouble with it damaging carpet either. Re: Newlyweds First Home - Hallmark Homes Coomera QLD 553Apr 03, 2017 11:25 pm Hi GC! Hope you are fully settled in now and still loving your beautiful new home! We have decided to go with Hallmark, but I was just hoping I could ask you a few questions, if you don't mind? Were your toilet suites flush-to-wall? (I've been told I can't have them?!) How much were you charged for the translucent glass in your gorgeous front door? (I've been quoted $350!) What were you charged for pot drawers in your kitchen? (I've been quoted $645 for a bank of 2 or 3) And how much for your micro framed mirrors (I've been quoted $145 to upgrade to micro). My SC quotes everything so high - when the fixed price quote came in it was so much cheaper (and a lovely surprise!) The above are things I have asked for after receiving the fixed price, as they won't let me have an allowance for colour selections!!! I would really appreciate your help! Sorry for the late reply, I've been super busy with work lately, but still loving every little bit of our new home ❤️ I'm so excited you've decided to go with hallmark!! Where abouts are you building again? More than happy to help out with any questions - the stage you're at now is exciting but can also be confusing! I've just had a look through our contract documents and found the costs for those items you listed: - FRONT DOOR: our translucent glazing was $350 so same price you were quoted - TOILETS: we upgraded toilets to Caroma 'profile 4' but they still aren't flush to wall. However, we were told we could upgrade them at the time. Might be something to do with distributors or stock levels ect?? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ - POT DRAWERS: your quote sounds reasonable. We paid $800 per bank of three 1m wide pot draws (total $1600). Your quote might be cheaper if they are not as wide (ours are 1m wide each) - MIRRORS: we paid a total of $270 for micro-framed mirrors in the ensuite and main bathroom (so approx $135 each). Other things we upgraded with our SC before starting construction: - we added insulation batts to all external walls to assist with temperature and noise reduction from outside - actually makes a huge difference!! $860 - recessed the sliding door 30mm into slab so there is no big lip/tripping hazard - $30. I would highly recommend doing this for only $30!! - 6 x ceiling fans $1650 - additional powerpoints (back of kitchen island, bedroom, living area etc) - outdoor weather-proof PowerPoint $130 - undermount double bowl in kitchen (i know it's a bit of a luxury but I'm so so glad we bit the bullet and paid for it because I absolutely love it! It also frees up way more bench space. I use the Kmart drying mat when I hand wash things and then put it away again. $715 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Things we upgraded directly with trades/businesses during construction to save money (you'll need spare cash for this though) - upgraded carpet and underlay - approx $1150 (wayyyyyyyy cheaper than doing this at colour selections) - paint: paid the painter to do all woodwork/trim in white to contrast with main paint colour (I think it ended up being similar to what was quoted originally anyway so might not matter) - data points - TV antenna (we didn't realise this doesn't come standard in the inclusions - don't forget to add it in! Lol) - added another yard drain as we had some water pooling in the front yard (this was pricy but we have a feeling we were ripped off by the plumber so ask your SC about this to check that you have enough for adequate water drainage for your land contours etc. although a lot can change with landscaping too so might be something worth leaving until after handover and after landscaping. - aggregate pathway extending from driveway around the house to laundry door and another separate slab for clothes line (highly recommend). We paid the concreters who were doing our driveway directly and saved some of money. Total $800 Hopefully this was helpful! I'm sure I've forgotten other things we've added along the way lol Follow my build - Newlyweds First Home - Hallmark Homes Coomera QLD https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?url=ht ... are_type=t Newlyweds First Home - Hallmark Homes Coomera QLD 555Apr 09, 2017 1:16 pm NEW PURCHASES Hubby and I are finally ready to take a leap into fur-parenthood ❤️ We spent yesterday getting everything ready for our new little arrival next weekend. Re: Newlyweds First Home - Hallmark Homes Coomera QLD 558May 01, 2017 2:04 pm HI again GC! Did you get your kitty?! Sorry to bother you with questions again - but your the only fellow hallmark builder I know! With your downlights - did you have Hallmark install them (ie. put in your contract), or did you ask the electrician to put them in for you during the build? I have added extra light points through hallmark, but would like to owner supply our fans and downlights in the hope the sparky will put them in for us when the build starts. I'm just questioning if I have done the right thing?! Also with your tile selections - did you have to go to National Tiles and the colour appointment separately? How is your house feeling now... still loving it? Thanks GC, so appreciate all your help, info and advice. We included all lighting in the contract price. We upgraded to the middle lighting package (can't remember what it was called) and we found that we didn't really need to add any extra lights after that, but everyone's preference is different in terms of how much lighting they like. Regarding tiles - yes we attended a separate selections appointment with national tiles and then did the rest of the selections with hallmark homes. Have you been looking at tiles yet? Any in particular that you like? The lighting packages they offered me did not include any down lights - just more batten points with cowl shades - so I didn't upgrade because it wasn't what I wanted! I sure hope the electrician doesn't mind me owner supplying! I have been looking at tiles, but might leave this part to hubby (he is a tiler after all)! I'm hoping we get our contract from head office this week - then we will be one step closer! - B A vue of the pines on the Gold Coast forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=87210 Hi all.
