This is the part where i pretend to be a whiz at crafts, so i assume applying the translucent film should be child's play.
Reality is a different story altogether, perhaps.

I think clear glass looks good, but we are applying for a relaxation to front boundary soooo.. the translucent seems like the best approach.. if I had gotten the roll to stick on afterwards I'm pretty sure I would messed it up ??? This is me - the more DIY tutorials I watch the more I convince myself that I'll be able to do a lot of things myself.. hubby's not yet convinced ?? Metricon Metro 32 Qld 43Feb 08, 2017 9:56 pm So received final contract plans and selections pricing today....ended up $131k over the base Metro 32 Lux price. Now comes the hard bit of what goes and what stays ? Big ticket items up for review are: - $5k Retractable flyscreens for corner bifolds - $10k butlers pantry fit out - $3k decorative cornices - $2.5k upgraded colorbond round gutters & downpipes Don't really know where else to scrimp & save. And you'll just want to keep everything! hehe Re: Metricon Metro 32 Qld 45Feb 08, 2017 10:31 pm Always the toughest part. We had most things added in at tender stage (127K over base price) still waiting on colours... 10K for butlers pantry seems like a lot - what's going in it? Ours was just under $5K including all cabinetry (top&bottom, stone, glass splasbavk, sink etc..) I'd toss the retractable screens, something that can be added after handover - we ended up giving up our bifolds because of these screens, we found them super flimsy and with a child and 2 dogs we didn't want to take the risk.. What is the upgraded gutters & Downpipes? Just upgrade to colourbond? Metricon Metro 32 Qld 46Feb 09, 2017 6:46 am Mec06 Always the toughest part. Pantry came more then expected. Basically upgraded to the max with floor & wall cupboards, bulkheads, stone, sink, shelves & window splash back. Think might just keep Elevation D and do the rest later. How is it different to yours to make it cheaper? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Your right about the flyscreen seems a bit ott. Thinking of just having the corner bifolds without the screen as there are still plenty of other screened windows for ventilation. As for the gutters the standard is square colorbond gutter and square pipes. Chose the round colorbond gutters and pipes to see how much it is as we really don't like the square pipes. Decisions decisions!! Maybe try getting a couple of quick quotes from elsewhere? Not sure how much screens and blinds cost..? We had plantation shutters in the last house and doing the same again, it was definitely cheaper for us to do these after handover. Re: Metricon Metro 32 Qld 50Feb 09, 2017 7:17 pm We looked elsewhere for screens but M's pricing was best, so we stuck with them. We also cut out the round gutters and downpipes. We don't like the square ones either but we realised that we didn't actually notice them on other peoples houses until we started building. It was something we felt we could live with in the end. Love all your selections BTW. Metricon Metro 32 Qld 51Feb 11, 2017 6:32 pm Here are our revised plans, just a few minor changes required - Door way needs to be removed from pantry -Capped water point in the wrong fridge space - Landry layout needs to be flipped so that w/m is next to the sliding doors. - Dining window to be changed to stacker doors - Verandah to be widened as close to the side boundary as allowable - Water tank to be moved forward so that AC unit can fit behind as current AC location is where the pool pump will go Almost there Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Landscape mock up- Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=85381#p1630392 Re: Metricon Metro 32 Qld 52Feb 28, 2017 11:31 am Hi Vantage, are you getting salt and pepper exposed aggregate for your driveway? Do you happen to have a picture of what it looks like? We have to decide on a colour over the next few days.
